It makes no sense to run a modded driver on an officially supported system and doing so makes any results that you obtain using it totally useless to anyone using the full driver package...

And what time will Clevo put in the motherboard with the new chipset? Kaby Lake will probably come early 2017. Not that Kaby Lake will be the major difference in performance. But still...

Fast sync just basically is good for scenarios where your FPS is over your refresh. The GPU still renders every frame but only displays the frames that are synced to your refresh rate, eliminating tearing without killing your FPS and increasing input lag.

In theory that sounds really nice. Does it actually work for you? I tested it when it was introduced (enabled it in nvinspector) and it didn't feel like it was smoothing out anything, can't remember if it eliminated tearing for me though.

I haven't tried it myself. I think I'd still prefer to limit my FPS instead, especially since high framerate increases coil whine and dramatically increases heat production. The difference between uncapped FPS and a 59 cap in Bioshock Infinite with my 780 Ti, for example, is 20-25 degrees. Uncapped it runs 85C while capped to 59 to avoid tearing on my TV it runs between 60 and 65C and that's also with the stock fan profile which puts the fans at like 30% as opposed to 80% at 85C.

Its cheap gsync without gsync tax. Which gsync is stupid on laptop since you dont even get the physical module with it..... typical nvidia.....

It's actually not gsync, it doesn't function well at all unless you're 30+ FPS over your target refresh rate. It's really only going to be beneficial for games like CS:GO where every split second of input lag counts but running hundreds of frames per second causes you to have noticeable tearing.

Yeah sorry, I meant it as "cheap" gsync if you get my meaning. It helps in scenarios where gsync would help when you are over the fps target, doesnt help when its under the screen's target.

Just totally different targets really. Fast sync would be for those that sacrifice quality for framerate and gsync would be for those who want to run maxed out graphics at 4k and still get a "smooth" experience. Both are gimmicks really but if you already use some form of vsync in your games, fast sync has the added benefit of lower input lag but I'd have to actually see it in action to decide if I prefer it or adaptive. Since the frame rate limiter doesn't eliminate tearing, I have to use vsync in some games that are really prone to tearing (pretty much all UE3 games).

Yes, this x 1000. This is so true. Capping frame rate is so important and reduces heat so much, it's always the first thing I do when playing a game.

I don't know what you were expecting, really. Maxwell has been tuned straight. Pascal probably needs little to no tuning at all. These might be good drivers, but if you're expecting huge performance boosts it won't happen.

Whether or not cards can continue overclocking higher or lower is a different story though.

    No, it does not.

As for results... New on the left, 369 on the right...

    http://www.3dmark.com/compare/3dm11/11503633/3dm11/11467229#

Quite a hit on the combined test... Especially considering the physics score actually went up... 7.7% is a big drop.

Your CPU is 200MHz faster in that W10 run, as well. Something's weird. See if like, a windows process isn't eating up your CPU, or something. W8.1 and W10 should murder W7 in firestrike, but your victory there was largely due to your CPU being faster unless it's being reported incorrectly.
