Is the vBIOS for a SLi 680M different? Is it possible to just flash the GPU's individually?

Im new to overclocking but i got a Samsung Series 7 NP700Z7C-S01US i oced the memory of my gt 650m up to 2898mhz and the core up to 969mhz my max temp was 72c i was using msi afterburner but im guessing to go any higher on the core i have to use nvidia inspector. whats is the maximum anyone has acheived with their 650m and what is the max safe temperature u guys recommend.
-
-
Who knows "-forcepstate:0,x" what is the use value for gt640m?
-
If you open nVidiaInspector it's the P state listed in the overclocking pull-down menu.
-
-
even with nvidia inspector i can only overclock +135 on the core. i read something about forcing pstate but i am confused.

I don't understand this and haven't read it yet but it looks pretty awesome. Preparing to upload 3 Quadro k5000m vBIOS for you guys to screw around with or whatever.
The vbioses I have (and the cards I guess) were made for various test procedures as far as I can tell, so far the 1st one has a note in the boot message that says "hwdiag". -
Haven't had any luck overclocking my SLI 680m's yet though.

i went into nvidia inspector and set p0 at 2600mhz so i would be able to adjust the memory in p5 then i entered nvidiaInspector.exe -forcepstate:0,5 into cmd. the pstate 5 took my numbers so i tried 2000 memory (stock) and i tried to bump up the core but anything from around 1100mhz and up makes my computer freeze i think its a driver issue because it was only at 53c any ideas
-
My drivers version is 306.23, the one tested above is 306.00. Maybe the problem is the drivers?
Can I get some help please? Thanks! -
I think it's your drivers, I would recommend updating to the latest WHQL from GeForce.com, most HP users (Dv6/Dv7) can push their 650M to 1100Mhz+
After you managed to get the OC limit bypassed, don't set the offset to high, add only 5Mhz OC from +135Mhz to +140Mhz and see if that works, if you manage to get it working, by then it is OK to try higher clocks -
Mmh... My drivers are up to date.
Managed to make it stable but I have some weird FPS spikes, but the overall is better:
P0:
P5:
Something off-topic:
Is it normal that without overclock (default everything) and without a fan base the temperature with BF3 at High is at 100°/105°C?
With a fan base is at 90° at max.
Let's see if I can push it further, any recommendations?
Thanks by the way! -
Here's my GTX 660m. Not maxed out load temps at 72c runs nice and stable.

Weird, while nVidia Inspector calls out P5, I had to use the P2 state to overclock.
In any case, I was only able to get an extra 80MHz out of my 680m SLI setup:
That's about a 15% improvement over the stock clocks.
Here's the X Score. I realize this puts it well over a desktop GTX 680, by about 10-15%!

Check C.Mod C.Clock Mod and Set multiplier to "turbo" at throttlestop, disable C1E.
90c is quite high, if it's still under warranty, ask tech support to do a repaste for you
@HT, try overvolt the 680M, I wanna see two 1Ghz 680M in a laptop -
Can I turn on the p5-state on my card?
NVIDIA GeForce GT 640M video card benchmark result - Intel Core i7-3610QM Processor,Acer VA50_HC_CR score: P2767 3DMarks
how they did it?
P.S. I think the core rate was more than 135Mhz -
In theory, I would check Set Multiplier but I wouldn't bother checking either type of clock modulation. If your CPU is not using either of these methods of throttling then telling ThrottleStop to continuously check for this only wastes CPU cycles that could be better used elsewhere.
-
C.Mod, C. Clock Mod and Set Multiplier makes no diference. FID always changes, and no other value seems to change it behaviour.
Also... What deactivating C1E does? I can't tell any difference. -
i was able to overclock my gt650m to 1100mhz core with 74c running furmark but when i went to 1150mhz it blue screened the nvidia 304.79 crashed. what drivers are u guys using to overclock i would like to get to about 1200mhz core and 2600mhz memory? Also furmark said my gpu was throttling down to 965mhz is there any way to stop it from throttling?
-
C1E if set as "disabled (unchecked)" disables the CPU lower clock at idle, it works on desktops but I haven't tried or seen anyone disable this feature with a laptop

But about the drivers, I've been using WHQL drivers the whole time, going above 1000mhz for core make it unstable and leads to a BSOD. For memory I'm at 2800mhz without problems, haven't tried higher. -
Last thing is to check ASIC quality, (GPU silicon) check my sig -
The memory type is GDDR5 (2GB) and the vendor is HP.
The notebook model is an HP DV6-7084la. It is a long history how I got this notebook, HP replaced my first purchase (DV6-6c80la) about 5 times to get a proper working laptop, NEVER BUT NEVER get a notebook with the ATI HD7690M.
And the ASIC quality test shows 96.6%. -
I never trusted AMD for laptop tech anyway xD
What driver are you on? 306.23 WHQL?
Strange how your sample can't break 1000Mhz -
Also made it to 1070Mhz, but any higher it gets unstable and I get a BSOD. -
You played at 1071 just now
Also, kinda off topic, but that BF3 server was total hacks, aimbots and stuff. Got headbanged by an M9 as if it were a sniper rifle -

Very nice, but how about 3Dmark 11 and a 30-minute Furmark burn in?

Weird to see how a change of vendor can have a 100+MHz more overclocking headroom /: -
Epic fail by me, clocks weren't going into effect before, I got 1090/2100

I was shocked when you can get to 1200MHz, never seen a 650M pull that clocks
Anyways, experiment some more and add +1MHz more and more to the clock -
Why cant i Force P0 state? Running Nvidia Inspector with the parameters only switch my GT630M on Aver AspireV3-471G to P0 State in less than 1 sec...
-
The GT 630M isn't a Kepler based GPU. It's a rebranded GT 540M. Sorry.
Different GPU.

1050/2575 and the CPU is now game stable thanks to the new PSU

Actually, I need to continue overclocking the vRAM since I originally set it to 2100
EDIT: It seems I can no longer OC my vRAM as it never accepts the boost value, any ideas?

I don't believe overclocking vRAM does anything for Kepler, memory controller load never passes 80% at 2200mhz, and I've observed the difference between 2000 and 2800, and there is no difference in performance.

Depends which kepler you speak of.

Yes but who says overclocking the memory did anything? Meaker, you like to do benchmarks, see if there is a difference with just OC'ing vRAM.

Used this " Using your 4GB GTX 680m to its safest and full potential" guide to flash my 680M 4Gb vbios and here's what i've got:
Nvidia made a great card indeed and the clocks are super stable for 24/7) I will try to get my hands on 3740qm when OEM is out! P170EM still has some potential under the sleeve. -
Hey Mobius, if i got 1090/2500 clocks, what would the desktop equivalent to the GT650M GDDR5 2GB be and what would the laptop equivalent be? Thanks.

Mobius 1, yeah i might give it a try. But the thing is that with that exact vbios the card should throttle to 928Mhz core if i exceed 980Mhz overclocked settings. I just need a better CU, like incoming [email protected] to make the card shine, hehe))
-
Hmm, maybe the 230W PSU plays a crucial part, the card does not receive enough power?
Also, how did meaker and you get the 3740QM? I wasn't aware of a minor refresh in the mobile IVB world...
