I don't know what happened, but none of the other 16:10-aspect-ratio resolutions show under my settings since the mentioned driver update. The only aspect ratios that show are 16:9 and 4:3 with an exception for my max resolution, which is 16:10 at 1680x1050. Any ideas?

thats because nvidia didnt include them in the release,
you can install the driver with the modded inf over at laptopvideo2go,
where it will give you alot more res to play with

    Just wondering

Will you be creating an optimised version of the laptop drivers as well, or will there only be a modded inf

Also, how do the nvidia drivers compare to your custom 180.70/84 ones???

    Thanks

I'm using WSXGA+ and 179.28, and still have all 16:10 resolutions available to me.

I had this problem as well (with 16:9), you can create custom resolutions in the nvidia control panel, and windows will recognize them. Like so:

I couldn't tell a difference between dox and the new 179.28. New drivers will improve performance with new games, possibly a significant increase like I had with Fallout 3, but you can't expect a dramatic general performance increase.

That's true in most cases. Sometimes, a game will be very buggy and drivers will be released specifically to improve performance for it. GTA IV and the 184.84 are a good example of this. Many users reported 15+% performance boosts, which are very dramatic.

Try reinstalling the driver first. If I have all of the 16:10 resolutions, you should too. Did you uninstall and run a driver cleaner first?

no to the uninstall and driver cleaner. I usually do, but I was working on a document and chatting on aim at the time and just decided to install over the old ones.

You should try that then, and see if it works.

It might help, and if not then it doesn't take too long to do........

So that's what happened. I asked about the resolution on the other thread when I tried Fallout 3 and didn't get a reply, and promptly switch back to your drivers, hehe.
