Is this card going to be relevant for awhile?

I am in the market for a new notebook. However, I only want a 15" or smaller. If I go with the 15", I believe the 260m is the best I can get from nVidia.

This laptop has to last for a couple years though. What do you think? I understand the older it is, the more obsolete it will be. I simply want something that will be worthwhile for as long as possible.

It'll be able to play games years down the line yes. It probably won't be able to max games at high resolutions past 2 years, but games will most definitely run on it for a while.

Thanks for your input. Has Sager customer service been good for you or have you not had to deal with them?

I only ask because I saw a post here in the forums about poor customer service. I suppose any brand will have a couple people that are not happy though.

The actual computers--they're Clevo computers branded with the Sager name--are very well built and engineered. I don't know about the customer service, but on the hardware level they're very excellent machines. Bit pricey, but hey.

Compared to Alienware and other top-end lappy's, I don't think they're all that pricey. Go for them for sure!

Thanks for the advise. I have been on the Sager website and its awesome. The prices were better than a comparable Dell I built. It looks like Sager is the way I'm going unless I find something better that meets my size requirements.

The asus g51 is the only other 15 inch laptop with a 260m that I'm aware off right now.

If you want something cheaper than the sager you can pick this up for about 1k but if price isn't really an issue go for the sager.

I bought mine from xoticpc.com. Haven't had to deal with them yet and hope to never have to. From what I hear though they're pretty good. But machine was built and shipped very quickly. So far no issues, and great quality compared to any other machine I've owned, and I've owned quite a few (Sony Vaio, Dell Vostro, Gateway FX, Asus N10J, Eee PC, Acer 1410).

And about customer service, you always hear about the bad eggs, never from the 99%+ others that are satisfied.

As far as laptops these days go, Sager's are pretty top notch in terms of build quality and pricing, or so I've heard. If you are looking to get a 15", I would recommend either the NP 8662 (Clevo M860TU) or the NP 8670 (Clevo W860CU).

The latter has a better processor and GPU, but it depends on whether you are willing to pay for the increased performance. I personally would go for the i7 now, as the Core 2 line will soon be obselete, but Core 2 would last you a good year or so though.

I highly discourage buying through the Sager website. A reputable reseller will give you a better price, offer more options for customization, and have far better customer service. They also deal with any warranty issues. I use XoticPC but ask around you'll get a whole list of good resellers.

Seconded. XoticPC is well recommend. Ask for Justin or Justin W too.
