My nVidia Control Panel option disappeared from my Windows right click context menu. I tried to deselect the option to add to context menu then reselect. I reinstalled drivers, and weird it shows up at first but after a reboot or two it's gone. I don't get it.

The latest security update for windows (KB282334) was recalled for causing various programs to crash/fail, so it's possible this could be the cause.

I recommend uninstalling that security update but I don't know if it will remedy the problem. I was reading yesterday that the effected computers were isolated mainly to Brazil. The reason being a plugin that major banks in Brazil require users to install to access their accounts. It was apparently causing a conflict with the update causing effected computers to be stuck upon startup.

I noticed a few weeks ago that the update options in the control panel are inaccessible and it doesn't recommend or notify me of updates anymore. When I try to access the update options it displays an error message. Weird, besides that everything works as it should. I did have trouble with the latest update but managed to get everything installed separately (driver, physx, and the Nvidia update). Does Optimus and your dGPU still work despite the control panel being absent? Also is it there when you right click on the desktop in the options ? I read about some users experiencing the same problem with an older driver (v285-295). One user said he remedied it by doing a complete reinstall and by disabling HD audio. Hope you figure it out...

Thanks for responses. I haven't had time to fuss with it yet. Seems everything else is working normal just the right click context menu isn't working to show the nvidia control panel.

Have you tried right clicking on the quick launch bar and going into notification area "customize". See if Nvidia Settings is set to show icon and notifications. It might be set to hide icon, although I doubt that it is that simple. It only suggest it because it happened to me with another program a few months ago.

Can you still run nVidia CP by launching nvcplui.exe in C:\Program Files\NVIDIA Corporation\Control Panel Client ?

If you do, select the Add Desktop Context Menu option under the Desktop tab in nVIDIA Cp. See attached screenshot.

It's not the notification area, it's the right click context menu on the desktop.

I don't see screenshot, but thanks. I did try that as noted earlier. I turned off "desktop context menu" and then turned it back on and still nothing. :(

I'll just have to do a clean uninstall and then reinstall and see if that fixes it.

Ah, I thought it was missing in both the context menu and the taskbar. Does it appear/disappear when you log in and out? It could be a registry entry for the context menu that is not loading with Windows. Your best bet is to totally reinstall and hopefully it resets the settings.

Thanks for that. I tried a fresh install of drivers, it shows up first time I right click, then disappeared. I tried your reg entry and it showed up first time after a reboot. Then second time disappeared.

I think I may just do a reformat.
