Saw this in this Asus at xoticpc.com:
http://www.xoticpc.com/asus-g51jxa1-order-p-2724.html?wconfigure=yes
it shows it configured with a GTX 360m. They're out already? Wonder how it performs compared with a GTX 260m.
-
PRE ORDER - ETA Mid to Late January
-
Knowing NVIDIA, it's just another stupid rebadge. It will perform pretty much the same as the GTX 260M, but the clock speeds will be higher and it will consume less power. Well, that's what I'm guessing anyway.
-
maybe it's based on gt200? i don't think they dare another rebadge. surely they have learned it by now.
edit: just saw it's gddr5, so not a rebadge. finally. -
Its alright having it listed as gddr5 but until its definately confirmed by someone, im with it being another gtx260m rebaggage,
Do they even have it out for desktop yet? -
it's obviously not based on fermi. which is delayed to q2 2010.
my guess is it's a 40nm gt200. -
Hmm agreed, that is definately quite possible.
-
the 310 is a rebadge of the 210 in the desktop side ... and I have never seen nvidia drop out a mobile card before desktops ... im guessing ita a nice mobile rebadge for us too with possibly upgraded memore to DDR5 .. if its not a typo somewhere
-
Rebadge of GTS250m?
-
There's a GTS 260M...128-bit bus with GDDR5 and 96 cores.
-
Or it could be that.
But why are we speculating anyway? Just wait and see. Time will tell.
Incidentally, has the GTS 260m ever been released in a machine? I haven't seen any yet. -
Can't say I've ever seen one.
Did Xotic already take the pre-orders down? Saw the page before I posted but can't see it now anymore. -
Looks like it's gone.
An accidental slip perhaps. -
I can't remember what DX version it said was supported. Anyone?
-
Did anyone take note on the specs...?
-
Probably 10.1 as usual... My jaw would drop if it was based on Fermi.
-
Do you guys mind letting me in on what you plan on doing with this much raw power?
-
erm...if its a rebranded GTX260m/GTS260m with 128bit GDDR5 its not really that much "Raw power"...
-
Since i only have GDDR3 this is mostly likely raw power to me
-
128bit GDDR5 is almost exactly equal to 256bit GDDR3

No chance in hell Fermi mobile cards will be coming out at the same time as Fermi for desktops. It's probably another stupid re-badge or error on XoticPC's part.
-
its not a screwup on xoticpc's part, Gentech also had a very similar page up earlier (it is also down as well)
-
It might be a 260M GTX with a 256-bit memory width and GDDR5, but it'll probably be a rebrand with 128-bit memory with, GDDR5, and some higher clocks.
-
I just saw "DirectX 10"
-
I would definitely buy this...
if it is ddr5 with 128-bit...i may wait. -

They're really holding to Fermi for their DirectX 11 line. Guess I won't see tesselation on this one.
-
the site doesn't show it anymore??
-
stupid NDA's
-
didn't see this... must have been slip up and most likely its a GT200 rebagage...
-
pretty much confirmed it wont be any more "faster" than the current G51J. im willing to bet it's gonna be SOO similar in performance with the GTX 260M, just that it will produce less heat...which is a very VERY good thing for this series.
-
If that's the case I don't think I will ever buy an Nvidia product ever again, I am hoping for something more impressive btw the link isn't working properly.
-
XoticPC took it down shortly after it was posted here.
ATI is really steamrolling NVIDIA at the moment, especially with the release of their desktop cards. It will take something really impressive to come back from that. -
I really hope Nvidia isn't rebadging the 300 series but I gave a feeling it may be the case.
-
I don't want to sound pessimistic but simply expect a rename of the 200 series.
the only change that will happen will be the change from 256bits GDDR3 to 128bits GDDR5. At least that should reduce the heat a bit. -
Yay another era of 128bit mid end cards. Id rather have 256bit GDDR3 over 128bit GDDR5.
-
Thats right, the problem is that there will not be enough bandwidth to support the GDDR5 speeds... Not useless at all but will decrease the performance. ATI will rule this generation of cards for sure.
-
But nVidia is still pretty much owning the mobile market. The GTX 260m and GTX 280m can be coupled with an Intel Core 2 Duo or Core i7 both which blow away the AMD CPU counterparts.
-
The HD4870 is still a little better than the gtx 280m look @ the alienware forums and you will see it by yourself... And you forgot the upcoming HD 5xxx series
.
-
Well yeah, upcoming HD 5xxx series, when is it due out? But people may be more entralled by the Core i7 than the GPU.
-
the 5xxx mobile line is due out january 2010. iirc, there is going to be an asus with i7 and 5xxx...
-
Do you know the supposed model number on that PC? and which 5xxx card is going in that badboy? -
GTS 360M has GDDR5 on 128-bit memory bandwidth.

i hope you're wrong

Howitzer225 Death Company Dreadnought
Ouch, that's gotta hurt. -
You're making it sound like you can't use ATI cards with Intel CPUs. ;þ
i7's Intel chipset even supports Crossfire setups. -
The article doesn't have any more solid info on the GPU itself than what we've seen here.
That and SemiAccurate hates Nvidia.
-
which brand laptop the gtx360m going to be in??
-
?????
On sheer power ati craps on nvidia. The 4850 xt has 0ver 14 k in vantage in xfire ...
The single card has scored over 7 k
Nvidia is LOoSEING ALL around, both desktop and laptop. Only reason there still in the game is because they ruled the last arch. And they got all the contracts. They are in more but do not rule the market as they once did -
I was thinking that for some reason. Just seems odd Intel CPU with AMD GPU.
nVidia GTX 360m now available?
