well, I would recommend the M170. The 6800 ultra is more powerfull than the 7600.

please note though that the set up you are referring to is called the Gen 2 (like mine) it may have M170 written on it but if you look in the system information its named the Gen 2. Dell renamed that set up.

A word of advice though, The 6800 ultra although a powerfull GPU is slowly becoming out of date and turning into an entry level GPU.

You can play currently available games in the market in Full settings and at a relatively high resolution. For example, I was able to play "Prey", a game that was released a month ago, at the highest settings and resolultion.

Another thing to consider is the CPU. The Gen 2 has a Pentium M processor. I know if you are a gamer you should consider the GPU more than the CPU but I have a feeling that its going to be a trend for game developers to include multi-threading compatiblity. Crysis is an example of that and Quake 4 released a patch that dramaticly improves performance for the lucky mofo's who have multi-threading processers.

or....you could just wait for the release of directx 10 cards :D

    hope this helps.

The Go6800 Ultra is an older card, yes, but still very powerful.

May want to complete the FAQ in the What Should I Buy forum so we can give you some recommendations.

Like Chaz said you should fill up that form in the "what should I buy" forum. That way based on the detailed information you enter, people can make a good recommendation.

AFAIK, you can still get the configurable P100 with the exact same specs as mine for just under $1600. You get BOTH the CPU and GPU you want for a lower price, assuming you would even consider a Toshiba.

I thought the 7600 didn't use Turbocache, so the 256MB listed would also be dedicated.
