On another forum, this card was titled under "low-end workstation graphics" ... just how low-end is it =/?
Worse than the 8600gt?
-
I believe it's actually quite close to the 8600m.
-
-
it's mid range, based on 9500GS or maybe 9600GT/GS/whatever , since the old fx570 was based on 8600GT DDR3.
it should be faster than the 8600GT DDR2. But FX series is suppose to be faster in Open GL CAD application and allow more features to be turned on -
I'm actually going into engineering courses required heavy CAD/CAM and 3D processing. Good choice?
Would I be able to game, however, decently? -
-
Other sources say its identical to the 9600GT, how true/good is that?

Post from a Dell Precision M4400 owners (the owner is cpaek72) thread, where he tested that same card:

Crysis 14x9 mainly low settings except med water and textures [nomad level in the swamp]

Frames: 2638 - Time: 60000ms - Avg: 43.967 - Min: 0 - Max: 65
Crysis 14x9 all medium except high textures and water.

Frames: 1790 - Time: 60000ms - Avg: 29.833 - Min: 18 - Max: 40
Bumping the shadows down to low gives a pretty decent fps increase as does shaders, but shaders on medium makes a huge difference looks wise.
Bioshock 14x9 high texture and actor settings,no global lighting,no post processing, real time reflection off, shadow maps off.[level where your building an emp bomb]
2008-08-29 21:20:11 - Bioshock
Frames: 2352 - Time: 60000ms - Avg: 39.200 - Min: 31 - Max: 59
2008-08-29 21:33:30 - Bioshock
Frames: 2847 - Time: 60000ms - Avg: 47.450 - Min: 36 - Max: 61
Seems pretty good at games for a midrange card to me.
Stock drivers,Crysis unpatched,XPP.....suppose it depends on your definition of good. -
What kind of system do you have Weegie?
-
Wow, anything 30FPS or higher is great, and I rarely game.
nVidia Quadro 770 any good?
