Im only familiar with the nvidia and ati known series but this one is new to me altough it comes from nvidia a well.
What kinda graphic card is this? is it any good for gaming? according to notebookcheck it seems even better then 8700gt but why is it much cheaper then?

It is an 8700m GT based core, optimized for business related applications, yet will take Geforce drivers.
-
How good will it perform with games like FEAR or COD4? Will it produce the same quallity graphics then the eg 8xxx series of nvidia?
-
Dude, it is basically 8700m GT as Lithus said. If you install GeForce driver instead of its real driver, it basically becomes 8700m GT.
-
it is a workstation card so it is optimized for CAD and such, with some more Pipes then the 8600GT, it will play games well but it is not as good as a 8800gts because it is based of the 8600GT.

I think I've seen some benchmarks of this card in a HP 8710w. If I find it again I'll edit it into this post. Also I think one of the boardmembers (Greg) ran tests on a HP 8710p which has a differently named graphics card (NVS 320M), but I am told its basically the same as the card based on a 8700 GT.

The nvs 320m is a very low-end workstation card it is more made for multi-monitors setups then any thing else really.

I guess what you call low end is all relative, but the 320m , as far as laptops go is a pretty powerful gpu. People testing it on this board and notebookcheck get around 4500 in 3DMark 06, which is significantly higher than the 8600m GT, and pretty much on par with both the 8700M GT.
nVidia Quadro FX 1600M?
