Looks like Nvidia's bad bumps are a little more complicated than they let on. Given this economy, them losing the big console contracts, and probably having to pay out to fix this, they may be tanking:

...what was the point of that link? Remember, The Inquirer is significantly different than the National Enquirer. The Inq is actually a fairly well-respected tech reporting site.
-
The inquirer has some interest in hurting nVidia's reputation. They made a big deal about the 9 series, claiming that all of the 9 series was faulty just like the 8 series, but this has been shown to be untrue - the only affected 9 series card is the 9500M GS which is an 8600M GT.
I would take that article with a grain of salt. -
Oh, definitely. But they have lots of references in that article that you can check yourself. Even with a grain of salt, things don't look good.
-
They reference their own articles, so I'm not too convinced.
As for the "confirmed faulty G92s," cmon, they're in unibody Macs. I know I wasn't the only one suspecting to see high temperatures leading to high failure rates on the unibodies. I don't think you can blame nVidia for that. -

Has anybody seen the link below, it`s an Autopsy of an GPU , and analysis of bumps for defects.

Yep, I saw that like... the day it was posted by the inquirer.

I was worried in case you missed it.

Am I correct by saying that the G96M (9400M & 96000M GT) core is defective as well? Quite a big problem for Nvidia...

This makes me so glad I have an MXM slot on my laptop - if the ol' 9500M GS kicks-a-da-buckitt, I can just migrate to a Radeon HD 3650 or 4650.

For all the nvidia haters remember competition is what helps get good or great products to the market. That being said I think nvidia is in trouble. Between the class action lawsuit and probably other lawsuits for faulty cards as well as the stigma they created for the nvidia name and the added bonus of the poor economy, things don't look good for them.
All in all I hope they pull through, but as of now Im glad that the t400 I ordered has an ati card in it. I am kinda frustrated with the lack of innovation and the reuse of 2 year old technology being marketed as something new. -
nVidia has kind of been the "big boy" in the graphics cards market, and been able to push ATI around. Though most of the time I have chosen nVidia over ATI, as liquid said, competition is what fuels innovation. I'm glad to see nVidia hurt because I sincerely do not believe that they will be destroyed by this. They'll have no choice now but to improve their product, and at the same time, it will give ATI some time to focus on making some lower power consumptions cards rather than just powerful cards.
Just my 0.02 on that. -

masterchef341 The guy from The Notebook
accurate? thats a stretch. -
Like mentioned above, most of the references are their own articles... it seems like a summary of all their past complaints to Nvidia.
-
Well, I for one, am not buying an Nvidia product again.
After the nightmare gone through with my year and a half old vaio laptop which is now, a paperweight that had to go through 3 motherboard changes because of the nvidia chip. -
