Lovely! Just what we all needed, first the Windows 10 forced driver updates and now this:

It says that GFE will be first access for driver releases, they didn't mention that they will cut website distribution. Still, knowing nVidia, that might happen and that would be very bad for the likes of me, who only install graphics and PhysX drivers, and the rest bloatware leave unchecked.

They probably gonna do something like Game Ready drivers for GFE and WHQL for both website and GFE. If that'll be the case, I gonna be totally fine with it. Obviously for others it will be unacceptable, but we will see what kind of mess nVidia will try to cook up this time.Papusan and Spartan@HIDevolution like this. -
I wouldn't mind it if their drivers worked perfectly with every release. But every other release, their own installer botches things up, forcing custom install, or the now mandatory DDU. I don't really care about any other components within the drivers except the graphics drivers themselves anyways.

Like with NOD32 AV and a few other quality programs, if I run their built in uninstaller, then scan with CCleaner for registry entries, I wouldn't find a single remnant left! That's quality programming. I don't know how difficult it is really..... -
WTF? So now I have to install GFE bloatware if I want to update my driver more than once a quarter? This is such BS.

Nvidia is arrogant. AMD is incompetent. Intel is complacent. So much suckage all around.

This also means we won't have access to driver choice. And their drivers are absolute aids too.
I think... I think nVidia actually hates its own self and is trying to destroy itself. That MUST be their thinking!Papusan, TomJGX and Spartan@HIDevolution like this. -

What's next, can't use game ready drivers unless you purchase the game through GFE!
I'm at a tipping point with Nvidia. This might be the straw that broke the camels back for me. I'm honestly starting to entertain the idea of owning a second rate AMD card to simply to be part of the only solution I see fit.
This BS had to be stopped. This is criminal and grossely unethical.
The windows 10 of hardware.
UPDATE:
Let your voices be heard! I've never seen a thread over at the Geforce community forum where everyone is in agreement. Give them hell!!

I'm really getting aggravated with programs and updates being forced on my system just to have basic support. Sure, I can stop GE at startup and just change that setting when I hear there is a new driver out, but I shouldn't have to
PC gaming used to be about control and choice and now it's about getting your arm twisted to have basic functionality and letting every company track everything you do.
I'm actually starting to regret my laptop purchase.Awhispersecho likes this. -
Fun times.
I really only run games on my laptop that either aren't available on consoles, or suck on consoles. RTS games for example, are much better on a PC. FPS games too, since aiming with a mouse is SO much better than a controller. MMO games as well.
But if a game is available on consoles and PC, I usually get it for my PS4. Then I know it'll (probably) work mostly flawlessly. And my PS4 cost me $400 CAD, which is less than what a GPU costs, and will be "current gen" for another 2-4 years I'm guessing.
Sad, since only a few years ago, I only bought a console game if it was a console-exclusive game.
This is partly why I'm seriously considering just buying a basic, entry-level gaming laptop (something with a GTX 960M), rather than dropping twice as much on a more powerful machine. So the few games that really need/should be played on a PC will still be able to be run on it, but everything else will be bought on the PS4. -
That Xbox One that I have downstairs in the man cave collecting dust is looking more and more attractive with each passing day.

Nvidia and Microsoft are abusing their monopoly status to force GFE and W10 on us, trying to herd us like cattle into their respective walled-garden ecosystems. Because remember, GFE is a marketplace now, with an entire family of Shield devices and a cloud game streaming service for AAA and indie titles.
Usurping end-user control, using their spyware platforms to phone home with telemetry data, then using that big data to make decisions for us. That's the name of their game. Because we don't know what we want, they tell us what we want.
Nvidia says GFE makes PC gaming more accessible to the masses. Read: We want to make PC gaming more like console gaming. If I wanted to have a console gaming experience, I'd buy a console. Modding and tweaking, those are joys exclusive to the PC platform. If some people find the automatic game optimization and driver updates convenient, fine. But if I don't want those features, don't cram GFE down my throat by making it a requirement for up-to-date drivers. Don't take away user choice.
It's funny because for the longest time, one benefit Nvidia had over AMD was their less bloated drivers. Now with the 10 different startup services and background processes that GFE installs, all bets are off.
And to add insult to injury, not only are we forced to install bloatware, we have to cough up our email address too. Nvidia, you've learned well from those imbeciles up in Redmond.
Looking back at the increasing integration of previously separate driver functionality into GFE, it's clear Nvidia has been planning this move for some time. Shifting the driver update component to GFE, and giving GFE users early access to SLI, AA, and HBAO+ profiles. Those were all signs.
The Internet sh*tstorm is already brewing over this, so go stir the pot some more. This has the potential to affect a helluva lot more people than the mobile GPU clockblock did. If Nvidia refuses to backtrack, then we will find our own means of hosting standalone driver packages, free of GFE dependency.Last edited: Oct 16, 2015 -
I really hope the storm coming hits nvidia hard. I don't mind that GFE exists for those that need it or find it too difficult to use a pc for gaming, but forcing everyone? It was bad enough with intel doing only soldered mobile CPUs... now they want to make my experience controlled by them.
But I don't want or need GFE so I will not use it. It gives me nothing. -

I refuse to let this get my day down though. Tomorrow I'll make a fuss. Today, I made some of my magic green fig (banana) pie and I did some work and I'm getting a new headset as a result. I'm happy. nVidrosoft can't dampen my day today.

Oh so your sister is interested in the Audio-Technica 3D wing design? How much do those headphones cost in Trinidad? -
We were looking to get her one of these when it goes on sale. At the current price ($109) that would cost us about $700 to buy, give or take. Then include shipping to Trinidad in that. -
-
And yeah, I was looking for the absolute cheapest we could find that had the headset design. When they get here of course I'll be able to compare them to the corsair and H-wireless. -
so for those with modded drivers that means the releases will be less frequent than with GFE and i am wondering if there's a way to hack the driver package before GFE installs the drivers?

Also, if it brings up the installer window, then you should just be able to hit "cancel" and the driver files would be there already. Remember, it only tries to install after we extract them to C:/NVIDIA right? -

We just need someone who uses gforce experience to upload the driver file for us after they download it on their computer.
I'm sure that can't be done right.?
Because that's just to easy.
Or do we have to actually use gforce experience to install it.? -

Aborting a GFE install just to get drivers is unacceptable and not a good solution. We simply shouldn't have to resort to doing that for hardware we've already paid for to function properly. At that point it's far crossed that line in the sand. They need to be stopped in their tracks, we can't let this happen!
It's torch and pitchfork time.Last edited: Oct 17, 2015 -

GFE also has drm like GFWL. If you are offline for more than 24 hours, you HAVE to log online in order for GFE to even work. Now they are adding a log in too! Updates are forced. If you don't update, YOU CAN'T USE GFE!!!!!!
Let us look into nvidia's past:
-3D vision emitter doesn't initialize properly and is limited to mostly dx9. You have to remove effects for it to even look right.
-gsync updates breaking the feature
-useless shield hardware
-tablets that blow up and catch fire
-overclocking trying to be disabled sneakyness
-optimus not compatible with ANYTHING
-GFE has never installed drivers correctly before. Especially on standard user accounts!!!
-HD Audio doesn't work right when you connect to hdmi. You have to go to the menu for it to auto kick in lol
-GFE bloatware
-GFE memory leaks
-constantly abandoned software from nvidia
-DSR limited and not customizable
-soldered 990ms to force you to upgrade whole laptops instead of just internal components.
IT NEVER ENDS!!!
nVidia drivers soon only available through GeForce Experience
