What would be the nVidia performance equivalent of this card? It's also a DDR3 card with 1 GB dedicated RAM. Performance comparison only, not power or size or w.e

Almost as an 9700M GTS which has 60W power consumption

ATI 4670 has less than 30W  plus it's an MXM type II card where the
9700M GTS is a MXM III.

    ATI rules funboys ...... :notworthy:

    I have nvidia :frown:

It's a different generation though, I would say I prefer Nvidia, they seem a lot cleaner and have much better driver support... they also have CUDA too and physX

Well in terms of this generation the HD4650 stands around a GT240M in terms of performance give or take.

In terms of last generation, it'd be pretty close to the 9700M GTS yeah.

@funky monk: What do you mean by "cleaner"? o_O

OK to me the generation is irrelevant in this case, I'm just curious as to what a nVidia PERFORMANCE equiavlent it would be.

The memory amount for the HD 4650 GDDR3 makes no difference in performance. 512MB is more than enough for it. The shared memory is even more useless. In terms of performance:

GT 240M/230M/220M seem to be slightly better (though benchmarks remain to be seen since they are relatively new cards still)
    9700M GT/FX 1700M/GT 130M/9650M GT/9600M GT/GT 120M/FX 770M are slightly worse

This is assuming they all use the same type of memory. HD 4650 DDR2 performs worse than the 9600M GT GDDR3 (several NBR users have reported this).

    Mine's a 4670 though, isn't that an overclocked 4650?

It's better to think of the 4650 as an underclocked 4670.

Yeah, it is a faster HD 4650, but the difference isn't that much. All the 9xxx and 1xx series nVidia GPUs are like that too. The only difference is clock speed for the most part. Some are on a lower manufacturing process (which means less power consumption and less heat produced). The 2xx series supposedly have an even lower manufacturing process and 50% more shader power than the 9xxx and 1xx series (48 vs. 32).

I would say one step behind the 9800GS, the HD4670 GDDR3 is more powerful than the 9700gt.

The HD 4670 GDDR3 is more powerful than the 9700M GT GDDR3 but not by that much. It is far behind the 9800M GS. Between the HD 4670 GDDR3 and the 9800M GS are: HD 3850/3870, 9700M GTS/FX 2700M, GTS 150M, then 8800M GTS/FX 3600M

8800m gts isn't that bad, it has 64 shaders and a 256bit bus, just like the 9800m gs.

yea these 128bit bus cards are not in the same league as the 256bit ones, even the 8800m GTS.

Probably comparable to the 9700m GT, but not the 9700m GTS, the GTS had a 256bit bus, not the same league again.

From the link in my sig:

    9800M GS is 256-bit, 64 shaders, clocked at 530/1325/800
    8800M GTS is 256-bit, 64 shaders, clocked at 500/1250/800
    9700M GTS is 256-bit, 48 shaders, clocked at 530/1325/800
9700M GT is 128-bit, 32 shaders, clocked at 625/1550/800 - far inferior, just like the HD 4650/70 compared to any 256-bit GPU

Sorry, I misread your post, I thought you were saying that 4670 > 8800m gts.
