Hey guys, I want to get my brother a nice game for christmas. He really likes(d) AoE2 and Civ3 and C&C Generals. He's a lot into strategy, but he also plays FPSs occasitionally.

I'm not sure what game to buy him, I was thinking of Civ4 but I'm not too sure. Preferably a game you can buy on steam...

    Suggestions please?

You can get Civ4 on Steam. Seems like a no brainer if that's the kind of game he likes. It wasn't too long about that they had Civ4 and both expansions for it on sale on Steam.

I Liek the RTS games, Rise of Nations is my favorite one right now, but I was really into AOE3 before that. Rise of nations is from 2004 though so it's graphics aren't stunning... AOE3 can look fantastic.

RA3? I'm buying it because RA2 is one of my favourite games of all time but I'm not sure how the sequel stands up against it. From reviews at least, it seems pretty good.

It's on steam too I think.

What about any of the Total War games? You can buy Rome Total War with both expansions on steam for $10! It's an absolute steal.

If he really likes RTS games then the Warhammer 40K Platinum pack would be perfect, also consider getting Company of Heroes. Both are superb.

yeah you do wish you bought left4dead first.

its a fps (he seems to like strategy more), but its the best thing out there right now.

and you could both play. (need 2 controllers though, search google: "left 4 dead splitscreen")

Shooter: L4D as many have said, I can't get enough and with maps like "dawn of the dead" on the way.....oh mama!

RTS: I like C&C 3, also I just bought Kane's Wrath Expansion (which I recommend).

Or another RTS not mentioned but it good is Sins of a Solar Empire, mind you it's a very slow paced game. If you have the time to put into it though it is a very enjoyable game (but again I stress games can last awhile, upwards of 5+ hours sometimes).
