I play world of warcraft with all settings low but it still runs pretty darn slow. I've got 1.5 gig ram running in my lappy, and also 7200rpm external HD to substitute 5400rpm internal HD. It seems that there is no help for that. I totally understand that go7300 is not a mainstream card for gaming but friends of mine are playing it with ATI Xpress200, and the performance is better than mine. Is it because of I'm using an external HD or Is it because of I don't have enough ram to run it smoothly.![]()

External HD? U mean connected by USB?
If u install the game into the external, of coz it ll run slow. ANyway, try installing it into the internal HD. -
ya it's connected by usb.

That is very odd as there are the requirements for the game:
* 800 MHz or higher CPU.
* 256 MB or more of RAM.
* 32 MB 3D graphics card with hardware Transform and Lighting, such as GeForce 2 or better.
* 4 GB or more of available hard drive space.
* DirectX® 9.0c or above.
* A 56k or higher modem with an Internet connection.
Try disbaling some background processes such as your anti-virus program when playing the game. It may be just that the server you are playing on is not very good, or the problem might be that you are playing on an online server very far away, giving you a high latency and slow downs in gameplay. Try a different server.
Or it could be that you have to update the game software or something. What drivers for your GPU are using? If you are using GPU drivers from the manafacturer, use the nVidia drivers direct from their website, as I noticed a little difference in frame rates using Dell and nVidia drivers.
And indeed, the problem might be USB, as it may not have good enough data transfer rates. Id install it on the Local HDD as suggested, as the game might be accessing registry files over USB... -
If you have a dual-core CPU, did you optimize it with the Windows XP hotfix??
it noticeably helps the performance of current and new games. -
Try installing it into the internal hd now and try...

I think I have the nvidia driver installed.

Yes, I do have a dual core cpu...how do you optimize it with hotfix ?? thanks. -
I mean the game into the internal HD

if you have a dual-core CPU, make sure you do the Windows XP Multi-Core Hotfix, it will give a noticeable performance boost for current and new games.
Check out this chart of FPS for BF2 (Battlefied 2) before and after the hotfix.

The results speak for themselves... just for the skeptics.

Im pretty sure it is the fact that you are running off the external HD. You can also check your powermizer settings, to see if you are running on Max Performance and not on Max Battery Savings.
