need some help with a BF2 error.

I'm running an Acer 5920G (see my sig) with a more recent laptop2video driver mod for my 8600M GT. I'm getting a Punkbuster 'insufficient OS access' error that boots me from any server I try to join, whether I join a Punkbuster or non-Punkbuster server.

I did some googling and the 2 major solutions presented was a) update your Punkbuster, which I did or b) with Vista, right click and choose 'Run As Administrator'.

a) did me no good and when I try b) I get an error that crashes me to desktop stating some necessary file is missing.

I haven't played BF2 in almost 2 years (can't believe the game is that old!) and thought, 'hell, I'm only 8000 points from Sergeant Major, go for it!'...so I reinstalled everything, updated to the latest 1.41 patch or whatever it was, but no go.

whats the exact message you get when you try to run it as an admin?

 

actually Erik, it seems I updated punkpuster the wrong way. bud of mine showed me and now everything seems to work without trying to run as admin. my bad...
