I'm trying to control my notebook clocks using riviatuner and ntune. I really like riviatuner (ntune is kinda buggy for me), but for some reason I don't have OC control over my "extra 3d" mode.

I have complete control over the other 3, though. performance 3d, 2d, etc.

Does anyone know a fix for this?

    Thanks!

That's a common problem with rivatuner, it can't detect my highest clock of my 9800 either, leaving me no choice but adopting Nvidia system tools to OC. So far I am not aware of a solution to this.

    That sucks...well, ntune it is.

riviatuner made my graphics act up anyway. Whenever I had it open my games would get black screens from time to time. They would return to normal after 30sec/1min but it was annoying. Hasn't happened since I closed it, but it's unfortunate since I liked monitoring my gpu temps.

any other programs out there that let me monitor gpu temps ingame?

That is weird, I have never ran into that sort of problem, it works fine for me for monitoring temp/fps, perhaps uninstall/reinstall your rivatuner?

I never got a successful overclock on my laptop with a 9800M GS, I think it's because 9800M GS cards are the ones that failed to achieve 9800M GT clock speeds. Well, that's what I've read on these forums  :D

I think most of the 9800M GS users will have to raise the voltage by a small amount to support the 9800M GTS speed, but some quality 9800M GS cards are strong enough to support the card running at GTS speed with default voltage.

Flash the BIOS. There is a guide on the forum, just search.

I'd rather use software overclocking, though I have flashed before for an UV and didn't notice any temp decrease.

Strangely, I tried OCing when I first got the laptop, just to see how far it would go, but it was a little unstable at GTS speeds. Recently however, it runs perfect at gts speeds. Maybe it had to break in or something, but I found that strange.
