I've always used snes9x or zsnes. Not sure if they make Windows versions, but they've been pretty good for me.

The reason emulators exist is because they are free.
If I had to recommend one, I'd stick with SNES9x for superior user interface.
If you're asking us to point you in the right direction, then you must be quite terrible at using search engines.

no, i am pretty adept at using search engines... :D i dowloaded snes9x a while ago, along with 758 roms but for some reason i could not get the roms to work when i loaded them. i was asking for more of a recommendation as to what work for others, because if it is working for ya'll then it must be something i am doing wrong...and asking for rom locations on forums is usually frowned upon, seeing as the roms are illegal.

Snes9x is a nice free fealing one for windows, linux, and has been ported to nearly everything due to its progaming architecture. Though ports other than those 2 often have many things missing or glichy, ive got two for my pda for goodness sake... one of which runs pretty well even with sound.

Zsnes, functions best fullscreened, and imo its interface is uglirific and you cant, atleast when i used it, move the screen around as easily nor does it change from fullscreen-->window-->different window size, well, however it also preforms quite admireibly, although it is only avalible for windows, linux, and xbox due to its own, more tight programing.

Both are nearly equal in ability, other than their own little quirks, znses also on older systems tends to run a little faster with lattest versions, though the definition of an older system veries from rom to rom, and depends on if you dont mind 1, or even 2-3 frameskip. Lets just say that for most games, if you can stand 2-3 frameskip, you get down to being able to use some latter P1's... Of course, older versions, though with more issues with spesiific games, can run a little faster on pre xp computers.

Anyway thats pretty much it, i suggest aginst anything but snes9x or zsnes, they realy are the snes emulator kings.

Oh one last note, zsnes has functioning, abiet snesitve to lag, netplay, so if you have a low latancy connection you can even play games like mario kart(blah blah blah, if you own it n all that) over the net with a friend, there even are a few communities that do so with programs that assist in connecting... though i forget what theyre called.
If you get more than 100ms pings on games like counterstrike, ignore this feature except on local network...

Youll note snes9x has a menu for it and such, dont even try, its too unstable even at its best for lanplay to realy work... A feature lost in the flow of time im afraid.(more to the point, the code they started proved rudimently flawed and they didnt care enough to start it again the right way being it was alot of work)

Anyway, thats my 3 yen ^.^, ok so thats a little more than 2 cents, :p

zsnes and snes9x are both great for Super Nintendo. For regular NES, I've had the best luck with nestopia. I have my fiance hooked up with it so she can play Zelda and Mario - she's so easily entertained. :D

I personally use zsnes and fce ultra. I tried a few nes emulators and the ONLY one I liked was fceu. It's a great emulator.

As for games, I think posting that info would get us in trouble with the mods, so I am staying out of it
