so i saw some artifacting in tf2 today that i have never seen before, select things that are normally, say gold, are purple.

also, i am seeing some slowdown at random times, i could be in a massive fight with tens of explosions and have no slowdown, but walking along a peaceful meadow and have buggy slowdown back and forth.

    my driver is 7.15.11.7813 (178.13 i believe).

    edit: i have an 8600m gt ddr3

i am also seeing these problems in half-life 2 which i have been able to run perfectly in the past at 60fps+ at max settings.

    any help? suggestions?

factory it is at 475/700, i usually overclock at 519/740.

maybe i need a new driver? if yes, then which?

Could be heat? Could be driver? Could be Steam? Are you overclocking?

Go stock speeds. Clean out the fan and area around the gfx card to make sure it is being cooled properly. Just take a poke in the steam forum to see if anyone else is reporting similar problems. And if still nothing, try a different driver. I usually go with the popular vote over at laptopvideo2go.com when I am looking to update.

    I am using 177.98

I have not played a Source game on my laptop in a while. Played through Timeshift recently and checked out Warhead. Now I am deciding what to put on next. I'll see if I have any Source games installed later and let you know if I have any issues. I'm on my desktop right now.

are u gaming while on top of a desk or a soft surface?

since u do have a 8600m gt, i would recommend u monitor yur temps closely. hopefully that was just a driver issue. if u notice temps in excess of 90c+ then call whoever u need to call right away.

I've had that happen to me sometimes too. I suspect it's a driver issue as mine has also been at stock clocks and done that. It's also only during source games that I've ever had that problem.

Ive had that happen to me before, but it only happens occasionally when I alt+tab from the game back to desktop and then back again. It doesnt do it all the time, its pretty random but it fixes itself when I restart the game.

    I hope this helps
