well i just ordered my new computer specs are the following
3ghz core 2 dou
2 8800gt's in sli
4 gb of ram
my favorite type of games are FPS's RTS's and RPG's
-
Crysis, CoD4, Rainbow Six : Vegas, World in Conflict, Company of Heroes, Total War serial.
I'm not really into RPG's, but you can't go wrong with Witcher, Neverwinter Nights and Gothic.
All these games I mentioned are one of the best in last 2-3 years, and they are still top of gaming industry hill. Also, with your monster confuguration you'll play every of them without lag of any problem. -
I'll further add to what Madhater suggested. Civilization IV and all the expansions, Age of Empires III and all the expansions.
As for RPG's look no further than Oblivion and Fallout 3 which I think sees a release this year. Be warned Crysis humbles any system on the market. -
to rodknee
i dont think that crysis would put his sytem to its knees

Oooh, I'm not trying to hijack a thread, but watching too as I'm interested to see what kind of games are suggested and maybe get a few idea's myself. My new one is similarly spec'd, only I've got a single 8800M GTX in mine, so I figured I'd get some of the more advanced games. I used to be in to RPG's as well until Final Fantasy 7 and it's lack of XP playability.
Edit: Seems Eleron911 was making his post at the same time as me. I'll be sure to check those out. -
-
my screen is just a humble 20in lcd but it will get the job im sure
lol yeah im anxious to try this on crysis on it lol. i didnt think it was much of a monster machine
-
Age of Conan
-
Try Flight simulator X.
-
Try Playboy the Mansion.
/BS -
How 'bout Duke Nukem Forever?
-
crysis will run on high with shaders and stuff on either med or high.
-
-
My vote goes to Mass Effect which releases on May 28th. It's an RPG with heavy FPS elements and some light RTS (squad tactics) thrown in. Best if you enjoy lots of dialog. And its forty bucks if you pre-order from certain places.
-
well i it will be running at 1680 x 1050 for my 20in lcd. yeah im anxious to try out on crysis and see what this thing can do lol. has any good rpg's been coming out lately ?
-
other than the witcher...not really.
-
what is the witcher even about ?
-
Regarding Crysis debacle: it brought Quad SLI 9800GX2 OC'ed desktop to its' knees, so don't count on top performance with Dual 8800GTXm's in a laptop.
If you try to play in native WUXGA u'll probably get about 15 fps on highest.
I think UT - 3 is perfect game for your cards' performance: you will get exactly about 60 give or take in native on all highest settings, no AA. -
Back on topic: Mass Effect hasn't been released yet for PCs but it should be really good. I like the Witcher and don't regret my purchase but bear in mind a bit of hardware and software tweaking is required to get acceptable performance and stability. -
ArmageddonAsh Mangekyo Sharingan
what about oblvion? great game and 100's of hours gameplay and thats without any of the many mods about.
this is the first game im getting when i get my new laptop^^ -
-
Your call, but I'm glad that I didn't base my purchase on screenshots alone.
-
hopefully you dont base your starcraft 2 purchase decision on screenshots ^ ^ ^
-
This is Warloque we're talking about here, past post history is likely an indication on future behaviour in forums.
-
oh it would, it most definetely would.
crysis brings anything down, i havent seen any computer than can run it on 1920 x 1200, 2xAA and extra high textures yet
even on 2xnvidia 9800's and quad core processor. -
I'm not getting SCII in any case cause I'm not a huge RTS buff. -
Guys...chill out.
-
honestly... who reports people on forums???
i think mass effect will be a game to look out for. with your system, you should be able to wreck it. i've never played the console version, but it looks like a good game to try out.
crysis is an alright game to mess around in, but i found the game wasn't all that great. the story is kinda weird, and when i was playing it there were way to many bad programming issues. i heard they released a patch for the game, but i never tested it out. however, crysis on high / max looks pretty good! but to me, the game was kinda easy (granted i got tired of the game midway because it was the same thing over and over again. the hardlest difficulty level wasn't too hard either. they just make it so you die easier and you don't know what they're saying, nevertheless, it's an interesting game. i just find it's overrated. -
Crysis, Cod4 (don't let Crysis make you cry)
-
Oh, and ORANGE BOX!!!
-
anyways, i think it's safe to say that orange box is a must because of quality of games in that package and it's the best gaming value pack ever. CoD4 is the best FPS out right now for PC (I think the majority will tell you that it IS more fun than crysis/rainbow 6:vegas. If you're into RTS, I'd just wait for SC II. Personally I like to milk games out for what they're worth so getting one at a time slowly is best. Pick up what you'll feel like playing. Actually about RTS, I'm just saying to wait because I don't know much about games like world conflict and supreme commander, but I know that Blizzard and the team behind the age of empires series never failed me (except with AOE III). -
No, seriously... that was hilarious. -
-
To each their own. I can`t get into RPGs and MMORPGs. Just too much for me.
And I think something else was hilarious, dude -
THREAD HIJACK... sorry OP. -
well i picked up supreme commander and crysis for under $40 combined. i didnt get cod4 due to having it already for my 360. yeah i cant wait for starcraft 2 or red alert 3
so who here has played supreme commander ?
-
Lots of people on this forum have. I played the demo only but it's warfare on a grand scale for that game. Thousands of units on one map is de rigeur for large scale skirmishes and the latter stages of all campaigns.
-
if anyone can remember playing starcraft/warcraft 2/AOE II, does Supreme Commander match up to those in terms of how much fun you had playing them. AOE II was a blast online, probably the most fun I had. The warcraft 2 campaign was amazing for me too.
-
Supreme Commander is a different RTS variant to starcraft and the AOE series, more units on screen and more emphasis on tactics rather than constant resource management when your nearest gold mine/ crystal patch is depleted.
new computer. game suggestions ?
