    new evga 8600gt low fps

    I just helped a friend installed a new EVGA 8600 gt graphics card and it seemed really odd beccause it performed horribly. We tried L4D and all the settings had to be turned to low and even that we were getting an average of 30 fps. Even my 8600 on my laptop out performs it by far. I wonder if this is normal or he got a lemon.

    What driver are you using?
    Sometime lousy driver/forceware can give such problem.
    EVGA is a great! Better than Nvidia's.

    I tried the stock driver from the cd and the newest one which is 190.28 I think. Both were bad.

    Nvidia doesn't actually manufacture any cards, so that sentence doesn't make any sense.

    OMG!
    Have you try the OpenGL too? Maybe you need to set the OpenGL nicely.
    Especially on Antialiasing and so on(must on Application Control) for easy adjustment of the games.

    I am just wondering can EVGA GPUs use Geforce forceware(from nvidia or modded/modified)?

    Lastly, have you remove the old driver completely before installing the EVGA?
    Even Nvidia and EVGA is different company but the Geforce GPU is about the same. They(.dll files) may crash!

    I edited the last post. ahhhh. Nevermind I tell again.

    Did you remove your Nvidia Geforce 8600M completely?
    I mean using the GPU removing procedure such as Driver Sweeper and Safe mode.
    If you didn't remove old driver nicely, the new driver can crash(lousy performance) with the old driver remaining files.

    Yeah, most (if not all) mobile GPUs seem to be just OEM anyway, the eVGA should've tipped you off :p

    (Unless I'm wrong, lol)
