    new gateway netbook with x1270

    I have a new gateway netbook http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1218093001788 has the original drivers installed everything is factory, settings are all on high performance and i can`t even play the first call of duty. the main screens are fine and the mouse isnt laggy like it would usually be as if it was a boggy comuter, get in the game and its not even playable i would guess no more than 15 fps, any ideas anyone ? I`m aware that this is a relatively new netbook but its very frustrating when my old acer SSD 8 gig could play these games no problems. Other than that I have gone through several netbooks and so far this is my second day using this one and its by far the best one i have owned

    Well, it could be that it's running windows vista rather than XP, most games require more for vista vs xp. BTW that link is broken.

    i would expect the newest drivers should already be installed i mean it just came out the other day lol, so far i dont think this card is so great, everywhere else i look people with different computers are getting like 30 fps in like css

    this is great i still like N10J with the nvidia. Then again this notebook i feel has a nicer screen.

    See if newest drivers from ATI = newest graphics drivers from Gateway.
    Go to the properties of your link to Call of Duty and check to disable desktop composition while running.
    Lower graphics settings?

    everything is on low and 1024 x 768 tried in multiple resolutions with no good results

    The X1270 is no Ion or Radeon HD 3200, but it's a definite improvement over that aging and ancient GMA 950.

    Try using this tool to boost your GPU. It works.
    Tried on a buddy's HP Dv2 and boosted the 3DMARKO6 scores almost 500 points.

    Not gonna guaranty that it will make COD playable, but it should give you a little boost and every little bit helps.
    Checked out this laptop at BB today and it's very nice.
    Very impressed on the way it looked and felt.
    But the higher res. screen made text almost painful to look at and make sure your in high performance mode.

    it shows that the current clock is at 44 mhz lol, that doesnt seem very normal does it ?

    It could throttle when not in use... but it should go up when a 3D application is in use... you would hope....

    No it does not, do you have it on power saver mode? try high performance mode.
    Try GPU-Z

    not on power save mode, tried the gpuz reads 44mhz, tried using the gpu tool you recommended and it would not let me, i typed in what i wanted for a clock speed and it wouldnt adjust the speed, disabled powerplay and enabled powerplay with setttings on max performance still the same clock speed.

    in order for gpu tool to overclock do i have to find max first ? i did that and it stalled out at 815 mhz

    i used to use that x1270 IGP
    you can play HAWX on low with 25-30fps but CoD4 on low is 10fps probably

    Alot of games are just working on low 10fps like RA3 and others lol your better off not playing with it.

    counter strike (half life 1) runs at around 12 fps with 8 players lol. love the netbook/notebook but id like to have some sort of entertainment at work. well i also carry around my 17 inch gaming laptop lol. my swiss laptop bag weighs in at like 30 pounds with all the equipment i hall around.

    Maybe you guys with netbooks should try games from gog.com. 90% of everything there is a classic and will run great on a Netbook.

    X1270 is a junk IGP.
