So recently i've bought this new laptop: The Asus Vivobook touch i3 version

This "ultra/netbook" is equipped with an Intel Core i3 3217 at low voltage clocking 1.8ghz and has an integrated intel hd graphics card 4000.

Its ram memory will be stuck at 4 GB and is not upgradable. The HDD is 500GB and can be replaced with an SSD at a cost.

    This was my old laptop:
HP Sleekbook 14" B172ed , equipped with an Intel Core i3 2337 at low voltage clocking 1.5ghz with intel hd 3000 and 500gb hdd.
Also contained 4 GB of ram.

With my old laptop I could barely play any games, such as Portal 2 or All Points Bulletin (from steam) or orcs must die 2 and God Mode was kinda lagging too . THe only thing that actually could run was World of Warcraft and Age of Empires Online.

So now I've got this new laptop hoping I could play these games I couldn't play... But why don't i see any difference? God Mode was the same it should at least be a bit faster? Ive read the intel hd 4000 should give 30% more performance than 3000 by the LEAST. Also the 1.8ghz is still better than a 1.5

    What am I missing?

Ok so I got portal 2 running pretty fast now, but I feel like thats my only accomplishment

Are the games that I couldn't run not so graphic card sensitive but more cpu speed sensitive?

I don't want to invest into a real graphics card, I just want to get the most out of what I got.

What games can I most likely play above 10fps with these specs?

some of those games may require a dedicated graphics card as the HD3000 is an intergrated graphics and is taking power to run the graphics from the cpu.
the HD4000 is of course better but still cannot run a lot of games.

always best to check the games minimum spec.

also you can check where the 3000/4000 is on the gpu list (look nearer the bottom of the list :( ) Mobile Graphics Cards - Benchmark List - NotebookCheck.net Tech

    numbers 250 and 333

Make sure you have the latest driver as that is, in theory and in practice -at least according to most of the reviews I've seen-, supposed to drastically improve performance in the 4000.

The i3 CPU doesn't have Turbo Boost either, so it's locked at 1.8 GHz, which will hurt performance.

Not sure about those games, but in some benchmarks have shown there are minimal to no performance increase from hd3000 to hd4000.
