well the x300 is old news, but i figured i'd tell people anyway. I just reformatted last week and ran 3dmark05, got 1967, check out the sig. So i guess that's the record without changing the memory timings a la flav cool. anyway, just putting this out there.

Nice! I think my highest had been about 1943. I'll have to double check when I get the change!

arctic silver would be really helpful though it would probably cause warranty issues wouldn't it?

Yes, it would. I only have the basic one year warranty so I wasn't too concerned about it. I wrote a guide up on applying it though. It lowered my GPU and CPU temps by about 10 degrees under gaming, and the fans kick on and off much sooner! Here is a link to the guide...

If you are interested in doing this, I can send you the actual document I wrote to you via email. IMO, as long as you didn't buy a crazy long warranty, iit is worth it. When I get the chance I will do some 3DMarks...

Hopefully one day we may be able to stick the x1400 in there. some people are working on a BIOS hack on another site. lets keep our fingers crossed! :)

well ive got a 3 year completecare so im set for the next 3 years :D 10 degrees... i dunno if i'd really benefit anyway since my gpu rarely gets past 130F-140F anyway. the x300 runs quite cool. the x1400 would be cool and i'm sure it's doable

Yea, I wouldn't bother then. Next i will have to full around with the latencies, I would love to safely beat the 2000 barrier on PCMark05! :)

you should talk to flav cool, he hit 2001 with his 1.83 i9300, messing with the latencies. It should be easy for you with the 2.13 and the AS5 on there.

Yea, I think I may move that article from the Dell section into the gaming as it hasn't gotten much response. Let me know if you have any questions about doing the the heat mod!

Also, it is my understanding that the arctic silver 5 website has fairly detailed instructions on how to apply it.

Yes, they do. My guide is more of a confirmation of what you need to put it on, where the parts are located, etc. That way people newer to notebooks won't have to worry too much if they decide to do the mod. The instructions on the website just show how to apply it to the CPU.
