So, is there no such thing as a 256 mb geforce 7400? is it only 128 mb?

the x1400 is 256, so there is no such card as the x1400 128 mb?

I just want to clear this up.

    Go 7400:
    64MB +Turbocahce=256Mb
    128MB + Turbocahce=256MB

    same with x1400.

so the graphics card actually has 64 or 128MB memory which is dedicated...the rest is shared through either TurboCahce(nvidia) or Hypermemory(ATI)

If yes, is there an advantage of one card of the other?

naturally the one with the higher on-board will perform better. By how much, I'm not sure.

thanks everyone that clears up a lot.

    So would a 128 mb 7600 go still be better than a 256mb x1400 or 256 7400 go?

Would you rather get a 128 mb 7600 or a 256mb 7400 for gaming and like aero and such?

thanks chazman! so if I had a choice, always go with the higher card, even though it may have lower memory? Would it be better to run aero on a better card with lower memory or a lower card with more memory?

So the graphics card chart, it doesnt matter what the memory is. The say 7600 is better than 7400 no matter if it has 64 mb or 256?
    thanks for answering my questions.!

It does not matter. Don't buy a card with 64MB of memory, 128MB is the minimum these days.
The Go7400 you speak of doesn't have 256MB of dedicated memory - it's TurboCache, meaning 128MB dedicated + 128MB shared.

    so last question.

    You would go for a 7600 128 mb RATHER than a 7400 256 or a x1400 256?

Keep in mind I not only want it to run games, but be able to run aero and such. I just do not know if I should go for the more ram such as 7600 256 mb (with a laptop that costs a lot more) or a 128mb that is a laptop that I like and is in good budget. For the future, would the 256 be reccomended or is there realy no difference.

Go for the 7600, more memory is no substitute for a better card.
