i have 6920g as sig, but have swapped in a 9600GS graphics card. performance increase is good enough but i have not been able to overclock it (original 9500gs was no problem). have just reloaded win 7 i get the message about not enough power and reduced performance for card (i forgot about that).
can that be why i cannot o/c? what can i do to increase power to the card?

If you're dare, then, I would suggest you to flash(BIOS) your nVidia Geforce 9600M GS to higher voltage or maybe same voltage but with higher clock speed(i suggest higher clock instead of higher voltage). So, with the flashing of BIOS, you can get a clock speed/voltage that you like and it won't be downclocked by Windows due to the BIOS that you create have locked/protected it from being downclocked by other stuffs.
Flashing of BIOS is dangerous~ dangerous~ -

Dangerous but effective. Sometimes its only option to overclock on my old 8600M GT I couldn't overclock otherwise. Now its dead so I would recommend bios overclocking as a last option.

I would not bios OC, its too much risk for the 10% performance gain...

hmmm, i did many searches for overclocking but not for flashing bios as i was hoping not to do that. maybe time to start learning again :-( dangerous is my middle name
(actually i dont have a middle name, but if i did....)
should i just ignore the low power message?
@darksilver: i notice from your sig that with your overclock you get 3dmark of 4681, mine is 4897 so i am still ahead (windows xp of course)
@king of interns: i also note your sig 'waiting on replacement GPU' -
Ohhh yea. Now, it is 4716 after tweaking up and DOX. I think I will change to Windows 7 x64bit in the future. Windows 7(XP too) pump up hardware capability, really awesome!
660hpv12, see how much you overclock your GPU, it is not necessary 10% performance gain.
If I calculate my performance gain with my GPU tweaking(DOX+overclock) using 3DMark06 score, I gain about 20% performance boost compared to the original stock clock and driver. Flashing(privately or personally) is too dangerous for me currently especially flashing the clock speed. I used to flash BIOS of my motherboard but the BIOS I used is downloaded from official Acer FTP website(slightly secure). -
To flash a new vBIOS, get the original vBIOS on your card via GPU-Z and then edit it as you see fit with NiBiTor.
Afterwards, put nvflash on a bootable USB drive along with your new edited vBIOS as well as your original vBIOS and then just boot to the drive and flash away
not enough power
