So what drivers did you find that gave you optimal performance in either xp and vista. As well what games you're playing
-
I'm using 98.15 on Vista. Not sure if it gives optimal performance, but it works. The only game I've tried playing was BF1942, and it didn't play very well.
-
I found with this gpu it works best on xp, no matter how hard you tweak in vista it still doesn't play the same. I'm in XP pro SP2 using forceware 162.18

i have the 7150 and i found that if you turn off aero the games run alot better. when i had aero on i couldnt even play unreal arena lol.
and going into the bios and switching it to 128mb instead of the 64mb will help i guess, well thats wot i did.
im not sure how much the 7150 is compared to the 6150. -
I have 6100 integrated.... i managed to upgrade to 163.69 which improved the performance A LOT ! ... i have the original control panel, screen doesnt crash ....oh and the games i play arent that demanding: condtion zero (full settings obviosuly) , F.E.A.R (800 X 600 with shading off), NFS Most Wanted (high settings), R6: lockdown (medium settings ..although high it can support)
-
btw i use vista home basic so i think 163.69 is a very stable driver with huge improvement.

nocturnal310 - in your sig you mention 288mb dedicated. Its shared, no?
-
when i first installed City of Heroes/Villains...i had aero on, vista theme on, sidebar on...it ran like a baby trying to run right out of the womb...
but when i turned aero off, went to classic theme, and turned my sidebar off (along with other tweaks, most from flamenko's thread), the game ran cleaner and smoother...i dunno if that's what did it...but if not, it sure made a huge impact...
but then as far as drivers..i'm using 98.15...i can't seem to upgrade...i did everything right and it still stays at 98.15... -
ya its shared from main RAM ...i initially thot it had some of its own...but it has 0 VRAM
-
u shud go to laptopvideo2go.com for latest drivers....u cant update drivers for laptops from official site as they dont support laptop video card drivers.
-
yea that's where i went and i did what they said to do...i think i tried to update to 158.something...i forget...but yea...after I extracted the file onto my desktop, I DLed the modded INF into that folder, replaced the old INF...ran setup.exe...and I thought it was going it's course...but after, it still appeared as 98.15...i dunno...i also tried the hard-disk method they explain on the site, but to no avail....
can you explain to me how you do it and i'll try it that way? -
Did u uninstall old driver? ...and then restart your laptop....then install new driver and then restart again... if this method doesn't work then tell me
-
hmmm...i didn't uninstall the old driver....i'll go ahead and try that...
-
yea that didn't work...here's what i did...
1. Uninstalled old driver by Control Panel>Uninstall Program>nVidia driver
2. After uninstall, a prompt came up to which I agreed to restart
3. After restart and boot, I ran setup.exe in the new driver folder
4. After installation, my computer restarted
5. When it came back, it was nothing but a black screen and after a couple minutes of the black screen, it restarted to a system restore, and I went back to the previous state -
alright i tried again....same method except tried to install 101.70 and it worked...i guess i have to progressively move up....
-
Sorry for late reply....i am having same problem currently ...i already had succeeded in installing 163.69 but now i cant install any new driver...same blank screen problem....but listen ...there is some update available on microsoft which solves thie blank screen problem...just try searching for it .
I ll let u know soon when i find it... -
Try using Driver Cleaner software to delete all the components for the previous driver and try installing again using 'have disk' method
