    hi there.
i just bought an hp pavilion 2241 with an 7200 nvida card
    on the hp page :

    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...2788&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&jumpid=reg_R1002_USEN

it says it has 128 MB of TurboCache , but when i got the box it said on the sticker it has only 32mb of dedicated ram , this holds a big issue for me as it doesnt seem to load 3d games nor 3d software all that well.

in the performance info it says:

    Graphics
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Display adapter type NVIDIA GeForce Go 7200
Total available graphics memory 287 MB
    Dedicated graphics memory 32 MB
    Dedicated system memory 0 MB
    Shared system memory 255 MB
    Display adapter driver version 7.15.10.9729
    Primary monitor resolution 1280x800
DirectX version DirectX 9.0 or better

    Network
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    have i been misleaded?

i am running vista on this mechine and i have not yet seen where i can see the specs of this video card.

no where did it say it had 128 turbo cache when i opened the the performance information or anywhere else.

anyway im wondering if this issue can be resolved with a driver .. or in general can anyone give me a clue of how to find the real specs of this card.
is the model of this hp difrent then whats posted on the hp site..

im a bit confused as to what i got . i thought i was getting an equivlent to 128mb and it seems i got a 32 mb instead.

anyone who can shead some light over this would be very appriciated
i need an answer quick as i have only a week to return it if i want to .
    thanks

    Nadav

128MB of Turbocache with 32MB of dedicated memory means that the laptops graphics card only has 32MB of memory built in, and the remaining 96MB of memory is borrowed from system RAM.

The 7200 is a very weak card, as per the GPU Guide, and won't play games very well. It's the card, and not the amount of memory, that really matters.

To be honest, the Turbocache thing is a really cheap misnomer...and while it's good it isn't great. If you are planning on playing games or using 3d intensive software, you need to consider purchasing a more powerful laptop with a better card.

The ATI x1700 and the nvidia go 7700 are the best GPUs you can find in $1000 notebooks. You can go on newegg.com and search by GPU once you start narrowing things down. The Asus A8JP is a strong entry-level notebook for games, but it's going to run you over $1200. Good discrete GPUs don't come cheap.
