I am thinking of getting a portable sony with a decent graphic card. I found nvidia 7400 on a 13.3, 14.1 and a 15.4. I am definetaly getting either the 13.3 or 14.1, the thing is that Sony claim that the 13.3 is a 128 card and the 14.1 is a 256. Does it make a big difference or is it like hypermemory with ATI?
    Thanks

Both of them are hypermemory. The more you have dedicated on the VRAM,the better. It is because "borrowed" memory is not as efficient as the one on board.

as a matter of fact the VRAM amount doesn't matter at all in this case; the nVIDIA 7400
is a good card but it cannot use 256MB of VRAM

How much are you willing to spend? If it's 2K+ then I'd consider the W3J with X1600.

256 isn't that much better since it has a 64bit bus. this is the primary bottle neck of the card.

I'd also consider the Asus A8JM with the 256MB Go7600. The Go7600 is vastly more powerful than the Go7400.

Previous posters are correct in saying that the Go7400 and similar cards (X1400) cannot use 256MB of dedicated memory effectively. They hit the ceiling at 128MB. You probably wouldn't see a Go7400/X1400 with 256MB dedicated, there's a high probability half or more is shared.
