From the threads I read in the past I assume this is wide spread, but I recently purchased a toshiba p105-s9339 and immediately noticed that the 7900gs card and vista are not compatible at all. I have since switched to xp to solve the issue, but would like to return to vista at some point. Now that some time has pasted im curious to know if a solution was ever created.

All current GPUs work with Vista. Though some games might lose a frame or two.

When you say that they "were not compatible" what exactly do you mean? Can you describe the problem, or post a link to the threads you read in the past?

If you're talking about the video drivers, you can always download Vista Forceware drivers from LaptopVideo2Go.com.

Hmm, maybe this wasnt as well known as i thought. Basically what happens is right outta the box I havent changed anything, when I run any game it runs smooth at 60fps for 10 sec then goes to about 3fps for 3 sec. It rotates like that indefinitely. I read many reviews covering this issue, especially on this site so I assumed it was well known.

There's a solution. Turns out it's a BIOS issue. The only "solution" right now is to try out an unofficial BIOS, version 4.10. Sorry, these guys dont know what your talking about. As it is The p105/p100 series has major stuttering problems in Vista.

    Here's the forum

    Here's the BIOS.

Keep in mind this BIOS isnt official. Someone took it off of Toshiba's FTP website. After updating your BIOS you will need to reinstall your drivers.

If all else fails, try checking Nvidia's website in their drivers section. I'm running 7900gs on my desktop, and i'm running vista ultimate.

7900gs desktop != laptop. I had this issue and you'll have stuttering reguardless of whatever driver you use, and that's that I literally tried over 25 different drivers.
