Hey,
Just wondering if anyone else uses this card with WoW, and what settings do they use to get the best performance.
Cheers.

Hi there I dont have the 8400gs, but from general experience with those and WoW, I'd say first of all set the resolution as low as you can deal with (even if it is a bit grotty), leave textures alone, turn shadows off, turn view distance as low as you can deal with, stick spell effects and anything lighting related to minimum.
Unfortunately WoW is a lot more GPU intensive these days and the 8400gs will struggle, but turning everything down except textures will help you get as much as possible out of the machine.
Actually just nicked this picture:
Set EVERYTHING to minimum (except gamma), including resolution, and untick all the boxes except the miscellaneous section, then set resolution where it needs to go. Apply this *yes it will look grotty!* and see what performance is like. If you're more than happy, then start adding the items under special effects, once these are all added if still happy, set terrain detail and resolution to max, and in order, set spell detail to half, weather intensity up, environmental detail up, clutter up, texture filtering up, up spell detail to max and finally terrain distance (as this makes a massive impact on draw distance and performance). Juggle around a little if you decide you want a little more terrain draw distance, but be warned this does hurt performance!
Under Multisampling set it to the most basic looking 32bit one there, without any multisampling. -
No WoW info for you, but below were my highest stable settings in RivaTurner for over-clocking (8400M GS), if you want to go that route..

You can probably run it with almost everything on bar shadows quite happily.
The shadows are the serious performance hit, leave them on the lowest setting. -
In Azeroth you can probably play with medium lowish settings i think, but as soon as you hit Outlands and Northrend, prepare for the lag.
