why the old driver? get the newest one from nvidia's site, which should be 195.62. use nvidia system tools to overclock, it's the most simple app i can think of.

First read up on the faulty G86 core problem that your GPU has and rethink whether you want to overclock.

Then if you still think it's a good idea to overclock go and update your BIOS to the latest version so that your fan will run faster.

    For overclocking try using rivatuner.

There are many guides. here is a good one:

Check your temps. Your GPU will probably fail.

If you don't mind taking your notebook apart (and you have no warranty) then I might be able to help you OC the CPU. I got my T8100 to 2.7ghz.
Also while you have the notebook open you could check what vram you have, so you would know what it's rated for.

These were the highest stable settings I used on my 8400 GS.. Really not sure what the difference is between the GS/GT, but maybe a starting point.. I used RivaTuner as well.

GT has 128-Bit Bus Speed. GS is crippled at 64-Bit. :(

I have the worst of the worst with GS paired with DDR2 VRAM and I can only push the Memory Clock to 518 Stable. Then again I pushed the Core to 650 and 1300 Shader. I did this with AS5 applied and my temperatures on load never surpass 65C, which is a miracle considering that the G86 is total fail with heat and my laptop is still soldiering on for 2.5 years now. To be safe, I would stick at 600/1200/510 if you don't like squeezing every bit out of it (considering if it is a DDR 2 8400M GS G86).

i'm afraied to destroy my video card after reading the G86 fauilty

You are right. setfsb is the best :D (even if it takes a pin mod and more troubleshooting to get it to work)
