    will the 256MB nvidia 9200GS consume less battery than the 512MB 9600GT? for a non gamer does the 9200GS make more sense?

    Yes, the 9200 M GS (which is what I assume you meant) would consume less than the 9600 M GT.

    Regarding your second part of a question, answer is yes, 9200M GS is better choice if you do not plan on gaming. Actually, for such a purpose integrated graphic is the best solution.
