well i have the xps m1710 with the nvidia geforce 7950gtx graphics card these are very common for failing so i was wondering if you guys on here have any ideas on how to keep it cool i have it raised off my desk with a dvd case so that air can get underneath but is there any other things i can do to keep it from overheating
(i also clean the dust out once a month)

Get a cooling pad with fans and set your M1710 on top of it. This will help airflow going through your laptop's vents and heatsink, and lower temperatures. You may also want to try undervolting your CPU. It's pretty simple and basically risk-free.

Clean out your heatsink and fan of dust that has accumulated over the years you have had it.
