summary: refresh rates are switching by themselves to lowest possible setting upon reboot!

1.) ok so i just installed the 185.85 drivers today and tweaked all the settings in the control panel accordingly for my external lcd and laptop screen. the problem is, if i switch from laptop to external lcd, the refresh rate goes from 60 to 25Hz. also, if i reboot to the external, it will go to 25Hz, it just switches the setting on it's own. All other settings stay correct. what can i do? ( by the way, i reinstalled the drivers and it didnt help)

2.) also, is there a way to get higher refresh rates settings? like 85Hz?

...also, when switching from external lcd to laptop screen, the refresh rate will reset to the lowest setting, which is 59Hz for this screen

No there is not, there is a set maximum that you cannot exceed. CRT monitors can go higher.

well, here's the thing: my monitor can handle 75-85Mhz, but i'm not seeing this option anywhere in my control panels. i have read that there are ways to override this but i am not sure how.

ok, so.. i rolled back the drivers and my refresh rate is staying stable upon rebooting/switching panels, etc.

i went to 'manage custom resolutions' in the nvidia control panel and changed my refresh rate to 83Hz, which is the max horizontal refresh rate that my monitor supports.. oddly, when i tried to do this with the 185.85 driver, it would keep telling me 'test failed'

so i guess it's the old DOX drivers until further notice.. although i will say, the 185.85 driver gave beautiful default color + physx option
