errrr i just got oblivion and tried playing it. It was running smooth for about 5-1 minutes before the game would freeze. I dont believe the game crashes but it is more like i cant move the cursor and the clicks do nothing. The only way that i can get out of the game is to ctrl alt del. Anyone hav a solution to this?

im running ona dell vostro 1500, 8600, 2.0 ghz, 2gb ram

Get the latest patches for the game and drivers for your video card.

Yeah, alt-tab will definately kill Oblivion. No driver's going to fix that.

I had a similar problem when I played.
I had the latest drivers for my GPU and the latest patch for Oblivion.

From the research I did, I read that Oblivion uses codecs to run music and other things (or something like that - I forget). And that having certain codecs installed on your notebook would make it crash. I formatted my notebook and tried Oblivion after that. I still crashed once and awhile, it really reduced it (I used to crash every 10-15 minutes, after the format it happened after a few hours sometimes never).
I know this isn't a good fix and that you probably don't want to format your notebook. But if you can, uninstall all your codecs and try it.

Defragging your HDD is also a good idea. And get the latest drivers if you don't have them yet.
