So I was installing oblivion on my shiney new sager (specs in sig), and everything was going fine until i got to shivering isles. When I put in the disk, I couldn't get the autorun or the setup.exe to launch.

So, after a few minutes, I just file transfered all the shivering isle files over from my desktop into my oblivion -> data directory. SI was listed on the data files option off the oblivion launcher, and i selected it. when i launched the game, however, i had no SI content. strangely enough, all of the other official mods (knights of the nine, etc.) were working just fine.

    any suggestions?

That is really strange. It worked fine for me. Did you double check that Vista wasn't throwing a security alert conniption in the background?

    Try a different driver..
The thing is you`re using Vista 64 right? that might have something do with it if so..

eleron, I installed under Vista 64 too. If the autorun/setup.exe isn't working... what exactly happens when you try to run it? Have you tried rebooting then attempting install again?

i have user account controls turned off, so its not a security issue. when i hit the setup program, my mouse icon turns to the busy circle for a few seconds, and then...nothing happens =/

Explore the CD (DVD?) and run the setup file manually. Autorun doesn't always work well.

figured it out! After rebooting, the disk did work just fine..not sure what was causing the problem initially..but it turns out that wasn't even necessary anyway. the reason it wasnt working after i simply file transfered the expansion was because I had originally loaded the save, agreed to have it run w/o the content, and then auto-saved after i lost it!

when i noticed it still wasnt working after a successfull installation, that occured to me. so i got rid of the autosaves, and re-sent my save file from the desktop. this time, all's well.

One more thing. Is there anything I have to do to enable the developer's console? When I just hit the ` key, it's not showing up. I don't remember having to do anything else on my desktop, but maybe I'm just forgetting. Thanks.

The shivering isles mod takes some time to kick in, perhaps a day or two (in-game).
    dont worry.

or... does it display? when you select the mods you can choose?
