lately i am ocing cpu for experiment/games (i know it is dangerous for my notebook) and i was wondering what is max temperature that is bad for my cpu, or the point where i should lower the clock. also some stuff i looks toward that would damage to my comp. my current cpu temp is 50c to 55c.

Your absolute max is 95C before damage but you want to keep it lower than that, anything over 80C for any amount of time would concern me. 50 to 55C is a normal range for AMD (Intel 45 to 50C or lower), also look at the temps when not OC'd and try and stay as close to that as possible, AMD Power Now helps very much to keep cool. "Cooler" and undervolting are also options.

just curious, are you doing this for games or just for the sake of experiments?

you don't need to OC your cpu for games. work on the gpu.

still, its hard to say how hot your cpu could get before its damaged. it would almost certainly have a last ditch emergency shutoff before it was permanently damaged.

I got the 95C from AMD specs maximum so will it happen there no but above, rolling the dice and cooler running CPU's last longer even within safe temp ranges. So I thru it out there. I thought it sounded good. :p

If your BIOS is locked, and most laptop BIOS's are, then you will need to try clockgen. It will not always work and takes a bit of practice to use, just FYI.

    wu jen.....
i am using clockgen and works perfectly and also found which one i need to use to overclock
    _____________________
    okay here goes another one...
i undervolt for heat... and it would go down to 990mhz by lowering multiples in crystalcupid and using clock gen i can go much lower to 500mhz possily.
however the problem starts here.. from 990mhz to 500mhz,the comp would freeze but little by little i can reach it... any idea to solve this?
    --------------------------
    so baddog...
the maxium would be 80c right? because above that would burn my hands...
however i can reach 61c or (70 in game) in 2.0ghz and i want to reach more...but clockgen is limited to 2.0 which means i am at the max...
    any idea to solve this?........

I am confused where you talk about undervolting you talk in Mhz not mV, I use RmClock to undervolt, undervolting is not playing with speed (Mhz).

70C while in game seems ok to me. Being stuck at 2.0 does not seem right are you sure you are using the right "PLL"

yeah OCing your CPU will have barely any impact on games since the the GPU is normally the bottleneck.

sry about that.. i was having a chat with my friend, so yeah....
clockgen freeze when i underclock... so i would give rmclock...
i know it doesn;t impact on gpu but i just want to try to see how far it can go..

Unless you have SLI, then your CPU will be your bottleneck. Check out the scores for a D901C with a 2.4Ghz CPU and 2x7950GTX's vs a 2.93Ghz CPU and 2x7950GTX's.

Not everyone has SLI so it's mostly a moot point.
