Im thinking of buying a reguar canon led projector for 370 but I could also get a oculus rift instead, im interested in knowing if i can play sbs 3d videos on it with ease and will a i7 4700hq and a 850m beable to handle movies at 2x1080p. I want one solely for movies 3d to be specific does anyone have info on the oculus or own one.
how hard is it to setup
how bad is the screen door effect
how long does it take to ship out
any games support dk2
im worried its only for developers and not consumers as in you ned special hardware to do anything with it as well as programming skills, should a utter noob get one as iv'e never experienced VR
anyone and everyone please post your thoughts or impressions of the dk2 thanks a million !![]()

interesting stuff sounds simpe to use, wonder how vr compares to a projector and how big the vr screen would appear to be? -
Now that the DK2 has direct-to-rift it's much less finicky to set up for consumers (vs devs). That said, if you're familiar with troubleshooting drivers and displays for gaming then setting a DK2 up for extended display mode isn't any better or worse.
Watching 3d movies is one of the least taxing experiences available for VR, 850m is fine for that.
There are a bunch of sites to keep up on VR experiences, here's two good ones:

I've used a DK2 on my 870M, worked beautifully.

I haven´t read much on the matter. But I thought you´d want stable 90 fps to get a good experience, is this true? In that case, with an 870M I guess you´d have to drop alot off settings?

I would say equally important is improving the FOV, is not all about fps only.Last edited: Mar 25, 2015 -
I´m planning to get a set of glasses and was hoping I could pair them with my next laptop (980M or AMD equivalent). -
If you want perfection that might be true depending on the game. We are still in the infancy of this tech, but at the end of the day it's really just rendering a scene twice at 1080p split screen.
oculus rift dk2 info help!
