    sorry im not sure if im posting this in the right place, but i was wondering if i have to pay to play a pc game online? i thought it was free but im not sure if it is or not

    You only have to pay a monthly fee for MMO's...games like TF2 and COD4 are free to play online.

    so if i were to get world of warcraft i would have to pay a monthly fee huh. do you know how much it is and what game is TF2?

    new to pc gaming huh?
    well the vast majority of pc games are free to play online (given it has a multiplayer mode), unlike 360s games which you have to pay for the network service to play online.
    the ones with a monthly fee are called MMORPGs, they are games like wow and war.
    google and wiki are good, use them.

    Yup im new, im planing on buying a laptop soon so im just checking to see what i need and if i have to pay to play online like the 360 thanks for the help

    make sure you get a laptop with a 8600gt/9500gs/hd2600/hd3650 or better. check the gaming and graphics card forum stickie, you want to be as well informed as possible before a purchase.

    dont you have to pay each month for shadowrun as well, there are som MMOGRPG games that dont have monthly fee such as GuildWars

    no windows live is free. So games that use windows live like gears of war , halo 2 vista, and shadowrun are free to play online. Windows live is xbox live for computers.

    Yes, shadowrun only needs to be paid for monthly if you pay for the thing that lets you play the pc version against xbox 360 players
