    Hi forum.

I have a faulty 47in LG tv and am getting credit for it. It is a 47in passive 3d tv. The 55in tv is 350 dollars more. Who thinks 8in is worth 350 and who doesn't. Would you just get the same tv and buy a ps3 with the 350 or get the bigger screen.

I went from a 40" to a 55" and the difference was absolutely huge. However, since you already have a 47", I'm not sure how much of a difference it would make to you. You might want to go to a TV store and compare 47" with 55" models and see if it's worth it to you.

Depends on how far away from it you sit and how good your eye sight is, and if the panel on the 55" is better quality or not.

    I wear contacts.
I sit 4-7 feet away a chair close or a couch further back.

I called futureshop and he said the diff is massive.

Assuming you're getting the TV from Futureshop, of course they'll tell you it's massive to make the larger sale, lol.

I don't think it would make that much of a difference. 40" to 55" yes I can see that, but 47" to 55" not so much. If you were planning on spending the $350 anyhow, get the smaller TV and the PS3.

My moms house has a 46" Sony bravia. My wife and I bought a Samsung 55" last fall. We thought the Sony was pretty big until we bought the Samsung lol. Now when I go to my moms the Sony doesn't seem so big. :)

If you can afford it, you won't be sad about the 55".

IMO the pixels are too big @ 1920x1080 on a 55" tv so you'd have to sit quite far away from it.

If you want to keep your braincells don't get the PS3.

Get the 47 and put the 350 in savings.

Key001 makes 2 good points. Will you be using the new TV with the PS3 only or also with a laptop or desktop? If you are using a laptop or desktop also what is the max resolution your video card can do?

I went from a 42 to a 55 and loved it. Sold my 55 and picked up 65 plasma and will never go back.

Size matters bigger is better but also remember you need to calibrate it and get the picture good. Also if its LCD 60hz is not fun on a pc 120 is ok but i wouldn't get anything less then 240hz. tearing on a big screen is easy to see and will make you hate it really fast.

I plan on using the tv for movies and for gaming on my laptop. I'm wondering if the cinema 3d is worth it. I can swap it for a 55 in for 50 bucks but lose the magic remote and smart tv features as well as the 3d depth control. Wondering if I should upgrade the size and downgrade the features.

I think you're the only one that can determine this. Your needs and desires are what's important here, not what anyone else thinks. :)
