I have a Lenovo T61 laptop.
It has an X3100 intergrated graphics adaptor (I could not stretch the budget to a dedicated VGA)
The VGA uses shared memory from 8M to 384MB. Is there a way to force the allocation of the max 384MB of RAM either all the time or when in game. I have already installed an extra 2G RAM in the system(total of 3gb).
i just want to play titan quest
What if anything, do the following do or what effect will they have?
1. Deselecting enable write combining
2. Changing Driver Memory Footprint from normal to high
3. Changing Force S3TC texture compression from OFF to ON
4. Changing Force FXT1 tecture compression from OFF to ON
5. Changing Asynchronous Flip to ON
6. Changing Triple buffering from default to either ON or OFF
7. Changing Flipping policy from Flip to Blit
8. Depth Buffer Bit depth
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. tnx!

Without changing any of these settings I was able to make Titan quest playable at 1024x768 with high textures. I'm using the newest XP drivers and i've turned off shadows. Shadows make a really big difference so i really recommend that.

Please can we have a more general explanation ? I'm in the same case Toshiba A305-S6858: 4gb of RAM and a ****ty X3100
Is there a mean to force ram allocating to 348mb ? And how to optimize the X3100 for gaming (I just wanna play even in bad looking but fluid conditions)
Thanks !
EDIT : For some reason (DVD burner not working), I'll reach Toshiba Support in my country. You think they can change my GC for a RADEON 3450 or 3650 if I request so ? - I'm ready to pay - thanks -

forcing memory allocation won't change performance. the chip uses as much as it needs at any given time. and the card is not fast enough to take advantage of 384MB of memory anyway. so it will never need access to that much. best bet is to use the latest drivers and lower in game settings to get playable performance.

you should mess with the titan quest config files in "my documents". Not with the setting of x3100 cos its effect on the game is unnoticable.

one "tip" is to put models details and shadows to low when u play games because this card can't handle that well. You may *** textures to high but keep model details on low for best performance. Very easy to notice FOS increase from that
optimise x3100
