Look into your nVidia control panel. I bet you have Optimus which means you should be able to select which GPU to use with which application..

I went to the control panel and I tried all I could to get the 650m card to work but it still won't show up. Normally I wouldn't have a big problem, but I want to view Shogun 2 total war (the only game I have had problems with so far) in ultra settings, and it's not available because the 4000 is only 256MB. I'm going to try to intact HP about this morning after its a reasonable time lol.

For me, sometimes selecting the profile to run the game using the nvidia graphics doesn't work.

Have you tried right clicking on the game shortcut, then "run with graphics processor" -> "high performance nvidia processor". If you don't have that shortcut, go into nvidia control panel, click on desktop and select "add run with graphics processor to context menu.
