I would say enough to warrant the upgrade.
Probably about 25%-40%. -
X1400 is a X1300 with a clocked core 95Mhz higher, so yes it should work and the performance improvment should be as stated.

x1300 scored roughly 560 on 3dmark 06 and the x1400 scored 900. i would say it would make a difference but not enough to go through all the work of changing out ur video card. i would try overclocking first if i were u. see if u can get that extra 95mhz. because thats the only difference between the 2. no extra pixel processing power, same size die, and same PCI-E interface. note worth it imo.

u do it cause i cant explain things very well. im bad at teaching. u could point him to the overclocking and undervolting guide. minus the undervolting part. i think chaz did that guide im not sure. might have been someone else

Um, just FYI but if you have the Intel integrated card you will NOT be able to use that.
EDIT: Ah, did not see you had the X1300 as per your signature... -
i thought the x1300 was 128mb whereas the x1400 was 256mb?
i wouldn't mind reading up about OC'ing my x1300 though
out of curiosity...
