i'm using rivatuner and whenever i go above 610/510 and run 3dmark 06 it downclocks. i even enabled force constant performance level for performance 3d.

my laptop has a t7300 at 2.0ghz and when it does the cpu test on 3dmark 06 the red valley test. i'm getting 0fps most of the time. is this normal? if not how do i keep my processor at a constant 2.0ghz i want constant performance and i dont want it to downclock ever.

i have xp sp3 installed.2.5gb ram. im running 3dmark06 at 1280x800 and thats the max res of my laptop. i'm also using 179.13 drivers from laptopvideo2go. is that driver overclockable?

Runing RMClock and disabling downclocking would be a way to stop this. In the Red Valley Test 0fps is common for many mobile processors. Across both tests I get anywhere from 0-4 max, if my memory serves me right. Your graphics card most likely has either powermizer enabled or is downclocking due to the heat. For powermizer, do a quick forum search for an application that will auto disable this feature within the registry. If it is a thermal issue, then Dell or a cooling pad are your options. Good luck.

Why does the Inspiron 1520 get to have a 8600m GT while the Studio 15 can only get a crappy Radeon 3450?

Because the Inspiron 1520 target market broke up into the Studio 15 and XPS M1530.

yea the xps got to keep the better video card while the studio was more for general multimedia and the next inspirons were solely for budget getting only an integrated option
