hi i got a 1,8 GHz Celeron in an Compaq Presario v3000. I would like to clock it to 2 GHz would it be a lot of risk in that? when i play games the laptop gets really hot. up to 50 degree's! at lest thats what the speedfan program tells me. Anyway u guys think it would be safe to clock it? my othe specs are gma x3100, 512 ddr 2 667 ram and win xp sp 2. I will uppgrade more ram in a few days though

hmmmmm already answered your question, but I would like to add that with a GMA X3100, overclocking your CPU wouldn't make a difference in games because the games are going to be horribly limited by the integrated GPU.

I agree with crash, overclocking will just make the laptop hotter in your case increasing the chance of instability.
your biggest problem is your graphics card, which isn't really fixable

Well you can try and OC in windows using either ClockGen or SetFSB, but those are not guaranteed to work/be compatible.

I think 50 degress is still cool, when playing games or converting files my CPU hits 70 degrees.

I overclocked mine from 1.9 GHZ to 2.4 GHZ but I only use when encoding stuff or gaming. Normal use I use default clocks.
