I was wondering if anyone else had a laptop with similar specs as mine and tried overclocking it so that it can run more graphics demanding games. My specs are as follows

    Intel Centrino Core 2 Duo T5750 2ghz
nvidia geforce 8400m gs dx10 driver version: 7.10
    3gb ram, 250gb hdd 5400rpm
    clock core speed: 997mhz
    bus speed: 166mhz
    rated fsb 665mhz

OCing the CPU will make little-none difference in most games. To OC your GPU, use ATITool and HWMoniter to moniter temps.

And dont expect some massive overclock so you can play crysis on high, overclocking on a laptop will only give a small boost..

edit: i installed atitools and tried to run it but i get this "The video card you selected for overclocking does not seem to be used by windows" "Visual testing has been disabled"

i was one of those misfortunate ppl that Unfortunately had a bad experience with OCing. I OCed my 7600 just a lil over 6 months ago with Rivatuner and it worked like a charm. straight high performance on high settings with most gpu demanding titles. I installed Hardware monitor too to be alert and monitor the temps coz i knew wat i was getting into. over time I started seeing some slow downs with Riva turned off and occasional artifacts on the screens(yanno big vertex lines across the screen) so i said forget it and re-formated my pc and started fresh. that was fine for me and this was before summer had hit around April-May. the weirdest thing tho happened just a couple of weeks ago. the screen kept inverting the color and turning red while playing games. then one day it kept flickering on and off. i thot it was just a PC hickup so i rebooted it and it couldnt load XP. the bios worked just not the card. so my advise to anyone really, from experience i would not recommend OCing a notebook. But by all means if you do it, do it at your own RISK... if you have all the tools and equipment and the balls to do it, Do it. I did and got me in trouble.

But on the Tip side of this topic. I would STRONGLY recommend you get a Cooler and dont over use whatever tool you use. Rivatuner is also a good tool to use.

so any idea bout the "The video card you selected for overclocking does not seem to be used by windows" "Visual testing has been disabled" errors u get on atitool wen u try to find max core/memory, scan for artifacts, and show 3d view?

I too had the same problems when using atitool!

I just started to use the nvidia control panel to overclock and HWmonitor to keep an eye on the temps.

Anyone know anything about getting atitool to work though?

Would like to try finding the max. core etc.

Overclock yourself and look for artifact... That's what atitool does.
