Yeah it's terrible. All the lighting effects seem to have vanished. Now it just looks bland and not half as atmospheric...

I was playing RE 4, on my pc through the ps2 emulator (yes, there is one and it works). It looked and played just like it did on my old PS2 console. I will admit it plays a little slower. I was using an image of the RE 4 cd.

I have been waiting for this to come out on the PC for the longest time (since RE4 came out in North America for Gamecube). Supposedly, its already been released in GAME stores in the UK today, but didn't check. I'll grab a copy tomorrow and tell you guys what the score is...

The screenshots really do look poor. I play RE4 on GameCube - it's an awesome game on there. Can't say I am interested in buying it for PC.

Yes, I keep reading how this is an incredibly poor port and how keyboard+mouse support isn't included. If thats true, then I'll be walking out the store without a copy

Well people, I've got a copy but haven't installed it. Notice how I haven't put 'yet' at the end of that sentence. I looked in the manual and all it shows is a keyboard-NO mouse. You use the directional keys for camera movement and the right-shift key + enter to fire. Nowhere does it show a picture of a mouse with what the buttons do. Needless to say, this is going back to the store. I have read that there is supposed to be a third party mod which adds mouse capabilities but I really can't be bothered at this moment in time and I've been perfectly happy playing CS anyway. I've been waiting for this long for this peice of trash

Using the keyboard to fire - if that true, then thats a disgrace. How Capcom let the company release this piece of tat anyway is a mystery, all its doing is tainting the Resident Evil name.

Curiousity got the better of me and I installed it yesterday. If you've read what that guy on Amazon.uk said (he gave a 1 star rating) then everything he bullet-pointed is true as far as I'm concerned. Relative to the Gamecube, graphics are a mess, theres a complete lack of texture and feel, cutscenes are an atrocity. Playing on my native resolution (1680x1050) seems to enlarge the scenes and you know that diminshes quality but in this case, its like a watching something off YouTube. Using the right shift and enter to fire is incredibly dysfunctional. I haven't found the 'quit' button-I had to ctrl-alt-delete and end task to get out of the game. I didn't even get up to the first chainsaw guy-uninstalled straight away. Ubisoft or whoever ported this is tarnishing the Resident Evil game series in irreperable ways.

well, just what i expected. bad for us pc gamers, considering how good this game could have been on pc, just imagine it with support for mouse and keyboard, and higher resolution, but unfortunately, we got none of that. shame on you capcom.

Yeah, Capcom should be ashamed of themselves for this one. How could they let this utter crap be released? As far as I'm concerned there is no Resi 4 on the PC!\
You have to press Alt+F4 to quit the game apparently, as there's no actual quit button.
As for shooting with shift+enter....the only thing I can honestly say is 'wtf'. -
i didn't know RE4 was coming to the PC... sad to hear it's a bad port or i would've picked it up.
-
Its coming out 2 years later to a much much more powerful platform, and it looks worse then the original...
Is it just me or are developers seriously losing it? -
That's really too bad. The console version of the game is absolutely phenomenal... one of the best games of last generation of consoles.

RE4...on PC...not good...
I love the game on GC, but I really cannot imagine playing it with keyboard and mouse. -
In case you didn't know a new patch has been released by Ubisoft wich adds lighting, better textures and shading that was missing before. The game looks much better than the ps2 version now, but lags behind in the lighting department when compared to the GC version.
If you have a widescreen monitor, a gamepad with two analog sticks, have downloaded the patch and maybe third party texture mod the game will look and control beautifully! -
Its a shame they picked the PS2 version over the GC version. Side by side, there is no comparison graphics wise. Don't comment on this post unless you two have seen both versions
And they probably wouldn't even know this is the main reason they've virtually killed the game before it got a chance
-
They picked no version.
This is the taiwan/euro version.
Capcom said (???) they are readding lighting and effects, and mouse movement for american pc release. -
I believe that the PC version of Res 4 is worth getting now that the patch has been released (only for Euro editionnot Asian strangely enough). I for one am not ready to pay 120 bucks for an old Gamecube plus the game. Res 4 isn't that good.
