    Now before anyone comes here flaming me for the fact it is a 555m, read on for a second. I have a 555m overclocked to 685/1370/1050. I can play Bad Company 2 with a mixture of high and medium settings at 1600x900 (no AA) and manage 50-60 fps. Battlefield 3 has been a nightmare. It crashes constantly and when I am actually able to play it, I can only get around 25 FPS with the lowest possible settings at 1280x1024. I know the Battlefield 3 engine is slightly more advanced, but is there really THAT much of a difference? I updated to the "BF3" drivers from nvidia and the performance is even worse. Not to mention the horrid input lag. One moment, the same mouse movement will turn me 90 degrees and the next it will move me a 270.

    EDIT: After a few tweaks in Nvidia control panel, I am noticing a large increase. I get 40-50. The only issue is, as soon as I try to turn around (say to shoot an enemy) the FPS drops to 25 or so for a second, completely screwing the mouse movement.

    What are the tweaks you used? I am having complete crap performance myself on low res (1366x768) and all low..

    What Nvidia drivers are you using? Baka believes that they released a new driver just for BF3 performance issues ._.

    Well, apparently you need something of the level of an HD4850 (desktop) to run on Low at 1680x1050.

    I wouldn't be surprised that you have problems running the game on all low. I haven't tried it but even my direct desktop counterpart, the HD5770, gets like 30fps on high. and my card is slower! :eek:

    BF3 is more demanding than crysis2. I can play the later on medium setting with my old gtx260m laptop but BF3 on similar setting is totally not playable. I don't see a huge graphics quality improvement of BF3 over crysis2. Infact I didn't notice any improvement at all. Bad bad optimization I feel of the BF3.

    ???
    I am with gt 555 on my xps l702x,and manage to play the campaning with ultra setings Hbao and 1600:900 res no AA and get 25-30 fps on the first mision wich i think is most demanding on the night mision i get even better fps.For me these frames are good,but someone may want 60+ fps to feel comfort.I have not played multiplayer but i think on medium/high with ssao i can squeeze 30-35 fps.I am with latest Nvidia drivers and OC gpu to 770core/980mem.I think that kills the myth with "you need something more".Just reinstal your drivers,twiking your optimus settings power managment and etc.You have the power you need to find the reason :D.And personaly for me the graphics on bf 3 is little jaggy without AA,i played in 1600:900 and i have that low res feeling :eek:,but the AA is very expensive for my hardware.I paly crysis 2 with the same res and the graphics looks hi res, no aa seting no jaggy no killed frames.Cryengine 3 wins :D

    25-30 FPS is fine in Singleplayer but in Multiplayer, its nearly impossible.

    That's because you have a DDR3 GT 555m with 128-bit bus which severely gimps performance. My Radeon 6750m, similar performance to 555m, handles BF3 at 1080p at about 30fps and smooth as butter (feels more like 50-60fps), but I think that's attributed to my GDDR5. Otherwise the 555m should be able to manage 720p no problem with low/medium detail if not more. Must be a driver issue. As "The Baka" states, download the latest drivers which tune it for BF3.

    Mainly low. I'll get a screenshot later of my config. I get about 30fps average, dips to about 25 outdoors periodically but nothing distracting. With Crossfire I can get 30-45 fps, average about 35 outdoors, 40 indoors, dips to 30 periodically. Even at 35-40fps this game is smooth.

    edit: Here it is:

    Bad optimization for BF3? Not in my experience when comparing to Crysis 2. On my laptop I am able to run everything at Ultra settings, HBAO, and 1080p while turning off AA. In multiplayer the game runs flawless and I've not had any performance issues. The only time I see problems is when there is unnecessary server lag. Which is pretty common, every server I've played on will have a spike of lag for a few mins at some point in time.

    Now for Crisis, I can't say the same. If I try to run at the same settings, performance seems to be utter crap. Now that game is pretty badly optimized in comparison.

    I feel bad now. D;
    I play at 1080p all low with my HD 6970m just to get 60 fps.

    But even on low this game looks great.
