    Hi,

Just interested to know what kind of performance people are getting playing this game on their notebooks. Could players of this game please post up their Frames per second count and their system specs.

I'm in the market for my first ever notebook and the ability to run this game well is a big consideration on what I end up choosing. Thanks.

    Hi Adriano,

You have to download a small freeware app called FRAPS here's the link: http://www.fraps.com/download.htm

It's great, you just run the app before loading up a game and it gives you a readout of the FPS in the top corner of your screen. Brilliant. You can also use it to catpture screen shots and videos.

If you get FRAPS can you post up the FPS you get and let me know your machine's specs, that would be great.

    Cheers

Hi again! At medium detail level and the highest resolutMbion possible, the game runs at 60 fps all the time. This is without any overclocking and here are the specs:

    Mobile AMD Athlon 64 2800+

    512 Mb Ram (2*256)

ATI Mobility Radeon 9700 128 Mb

    80 Gb 4200 Rpm

I really like the Acer Ferarri 3200 and I also play Half Life 2 without any problems! I do think that a faster harddrive would increase the performance though!

The AMD runs it pretty hot but not nearly as hot as the Pentium 4 processors. I can really recommend the Acer Ferarri 3200 as it's pretty small and still handles the latest games without problems! What are you going to do with your laptop, except playing PES 4? Maybe I could help you some more if you told me that! I hope you buy a good lappie!

    Thanks for that Adriano,

Wow, that sounds like a pretty mean machine you're running there. 60 fps! that's great. I hadn't really considered an AMD processor up until now. I know they've got some serious gaming grunt but gaming is only a minor part of my overall computing needs. Out of interest, do these processors run hot like the P4's or are they much cooler similar to the P-M's.

Anyone out there running pro evo 4 on a p-M machine for comparison?

a little off topic but i want this game bad! Its called Winning Eleven 8 here in the states, but i still play Winning Eleven 7 on my PS2! BEST SOCCER series EVER, PERIOD! How is the game play for PE4(WE8 in states), is it better than PE3?

PES 4 has a faster and more fluid gameplay than PES 3 and I think it's better. I really recommend it as I play it almost every day!!!

DeathMoJo: What program did you use to overclock your graphics-card that high? I really would like to know your score in 3DMark2001! Please tell me!

    Adriano,

Primary function of the notebook is for work, photojournalism and some graphic design type stuff. Would love to be able to fire up PES4 when I'm not working though.

I'm leaning mostly towards P-M because of weight/heat/battery life issues so I'm really hoping somebody who plays PES4 on a P-M notebook responds to this thread.

leuco, P-M proccesors do great for gaming, as long as its backed with good memory and graphics card. Not sure of the all the details on how they work, but i know they compare very well to P4, due to the P4 is made on older architechture. A 1.6ghz PM- is comparable to a 2.5ghz P4 processor. Also the P-M has great features to help with battery life, such as being able to run at a lower speed while on battery power.

I downloaded a demo of this game from some website and it's got the PS2 controlls listed. It's quite humorous. Is it supposed to be like that or is it not a legit demo? That baffled me.

Is the complete game like that? I enjoyed it quite a bit and I look forward to purchasing it. I never knew soccer games were so good.

This is the best soccer series out there!! Just make sure to stay away from EA's Fifa games.....shudder.....

I haven't played FIFA, but I'd image it isn't as good as this. I've always heard good things about Winning Eleven but I've never remembered to check it out.

It would be more enjoyable if it wasn't all PS2 style. I couldn't figure out how to get the ball from the opponent (which took a lot of fun away) and I couldn't find a control sheet.

    Fun, nonetheless.

Never, ever, touch Fifa. Not even if you can play it for free! I mean its got the licenses, its good great music, menus, graphics, due to EA's endless resources, but the gameplay is just bad and doesn't even play like a soccer game should play! Once you learn the "tricks" it becomes so easy to score. Steer clear of this pathetic attempt to make a good soccer game, it actually shames the sport.

Thanks DeathMojo for the comparison of P-M and P4. By the way, what kind of Frames per second rates are you getting on PES4 with your rig?

You're right, EA sports games are really the pits. Konami have come up with most organic soccer game imaginable with PES4/Winning 11.

I haven't gotten my I9300 yet. I had a I9200 but returned it for this one, this one is way faster [ :D] and i got it cheaper. Anyway, i also don't have PE4 [ :p] i have PE3 or Winning Eleven 7 here in the US for my PS2, however PE4(Winning Eleven 8 in states) is my next game when i get some cash!

Also if you guys didn't know i saw an article on www.gamespot.com about a group of people who made a mod for the pc version of PE4 that has all the real teams, player names, faces (as close as they could make them), jersey (same as faces), shoes, a ton of things. It was an almost 800mb mod though, so only broadband people here. check it out though, makes it seem as if EA's official licenses are worthless. [} :)]

so not getting the laptop until atleast monday but i got the game on friday. Great game!! Im loving it on the PC and i run it at max settings with no slowdowns. This is a P4 2.4ghz, 1GB 333mhz ram, 128mb Radeon 9800 pro. Some reason though the field is all jaggy. Like the nice patterns they make on fields is all jaggy. Anyone know why?

PES4 s the best soccer game in the world now. Fifa series are not enough to compare with PES4. But there are some lacking sides of this game. Especially "audience details" , must have different "commenters", must have more accurate "face, body" drawings...but also better than Fifa series. What d u find in Fifa 05? it s really nothing when compared to former ones.

And I have an Acer Aspire 1692WLMi, SONOMA 1.73GHz, XP Home TR,ATI Mobility Radeon X600,15.4” WXGA Acer CrystalBrite TFT LCD,1 gb DDR333,DVD-RW Dual Layer,Aspire CinemaVision™,Aspire ClearVision™

it plays smoothly,clear...it s a pleasure to play PESF4 in this notebook.

    Hi Clearday,

I'm very interested to know what frame rates your're getting on PES4 with your system since the specs on your machine are almost identical to those I'm planning on getting.

Go back to earlier in the thread for the url to the Fraps utility if you haven't got it already. Its a neat little program for capturing screen shots and measuring frame rates during gameplay.

    Cheers in advance,

    Leuco

    Thanks Clearday,

By the way, how much video memory have you got on the X600? Those are some pretty slick frame rates you're getting.

Well as you know,64-128-256 mb is not important, and do not seek out an important difference between these mbs. The most important thing s the "gpu structure"...Such as 9600 pro 256 mb is not powerful like 9700 64mb.

And I ve an Ati x600 64mb gpu. (no overclock),I can easily say,all them are very playable, smooth what u see in market.

    regards.

I can run WE8 on my system with no slowdown. Only problem is the refreshrate of the screen is not fast enough for the game and i have problems. I have tried it with vsync on and vsync off. I get jagged lines for the field and i get tear across the screen a lot. [ :(] Other than that this game is amazing! I think its better than WE7 and im loving it!
