I decided to give crysis a shot last week and now I'm addict to it![]()
But I'm having a little problem here. I put everything on medium and I can't see the gun, the solier. nothing beside the background and it also sucks as hell.
can some one help me to figure out what's wrong with it?
I'm using the xp official driver from dell xps 1330.

The_Observer 9262 is the best:)
I think it's the driver.
-
so far, what is the best stable driver?
-
masterchef341 The guy from The Notebook
well first off, you shouldn't be using the 1330 driver on your 1530.
second, head over to laptopvideo2go and get an unofficial driver. you can get support here if you need help w/ the install. -
I had problems running it on low. But I would say its your driver!
-
halo360fan, it might be ur procesor thats holding u back and what res were u playing at?
-
I belive it set automaticlly which is 1366 by 768 Pixels and I thought that most core duo processors could handle most games?
-
Go check out the thread we have above this one about the new 175.19 driver, it gave me a 16% performance improvement in Crysis on medium settings. Read through the thread, we show someone how to install the driver properly.
-
ok go and check some basic things if your running vista i would do 2 things.
1. turn off indexing
2. if your running norton or mcafee antivirus(find a new anitvirus....like avg 8.0) reason i say this norton and mcafee are RESOURCE HOGGS!!!! they run in the background and consume enourmous ammounts of system resources. i tried avg 8.0 (free) and havent looked back. it runs in the background and doesnt even bother my gaming. most other anitviruses are the same as those
3. turn off superfetch
crysis does require alot(not as much as everyone makes out). im running 4gb's of ram and a 2.0 core 2 duo and it plays like a charm. but even with 2 gb and vista home premuium i can still run all settings meduim without issues or slowdowns...try lowering the resolution to like 1024x786 or 1280x800 also. -
None of these suggestions will do much at all. I play crysis all medium 1280x800 on my ddr2 8600gt without problems. This is with superfetch on, mcafee running, and indexing on. With antivirus off and indexing and superfetch turned off I see no fps difference.
-
I think he has ddr3 version so he should have a med/ mostly high set up

in reference to this rediculous quote: when you have all these things running in the back ground they ALL take memory to run!! and if you use vista and have only 2gb of ram you will get sloppy play (ex. stuterring, slow downs) and YES low fps if t you do NOTHING else turn off your av. as the forementioned av programs are resource hogs. if he does just that(turn off or replace his av program) his fps WILL i say WILL go up.....and no i dont care what 3dmark06 says. its in game play that matters. -
Can you even prove these claims? how about showing us some results before making these claims.
My mcafee running in the background takes up lesss than 1 meg of ram. That will do nothing. 2gb of ram is more than enough because vista does this nifty thing where it adjusts when running ram intensive apps and frees more up for use. MY play is by no means sloppy and has no difference in fps than when your silly little tricks are in use. Show me results, I'm waiting otherwise I'm pretty sure they make no difference at all. -

The OP signature shows that he has 3gb of ram so I doubt he needs to free-up an extra few megs of ram and changing settings in Windows for a non-power user can turn ugly, his problem sounds like a driver problem that would probably be fixed with a simple change or in the case of some games an installation of a patch.

Spysweeper is great (about 20 bucks, the green box, can't miss it at your nearest Best Buy).

I ran Crysis with pretty much his same rig except the processor with McAfee running in the background and I no problems running the game with medium settings at 1280x800 res. FYI, dells drivers SUCK. Definetly download and install 175.xx or 177.xx drivers for your card. I'm using the 177.35 drivers and I have it OCed. I haven't played Crysis with my OCed GPU but it ran fine with standard clocks. I'm really curious how it would run now since I installed Ultimate 64 and undervolted my CPU. Sounds like I have a project this week!

Me having problems with crysis running it on low is it becuase of my drivers or is it becuase I have software like mcaffe? Or is it my video card?

ArmageddonAsh Mangekyo Sharingan
i know what you mean since ive had it i havent played anything else im loving it, im using the Natural Mod :d and playing on the hardest level
its great

wait for Crysis warhead ^^
-
crysis was among the easiest games I've played
-
Looks to me that your CPU is the bottleneck in your system. Do some research and find the drivers that people are having the most success with for your card. After u find the best drivers, try OCing your GPU to overcome that bottleneck with your CPU. Crysis is all about CPU power, all the GPU does it fills in the textures, water effects, and shading. By OCing your GPU, you might be able to make up for those short comings of your CPU.
-
also you have a 16 inch hd widescreen you say so the resolution is probably high. turn that down at your framerate will rocket.
-
Just wondering. some demos doesn't really give actual perforance of a game. So.. is there difference in crysis demo and full? I tried demo and ran pretty bad.
-
My experience in demos is that they are raw meaning that they are not refined and really intended to give the public a teaser taste of the game. I believe before the demo starts for crysis it says something to the effect of, "This demo is intended for promotional purposes only and may contain bugs/glitches that will not be in the release version." The key for smooth play in Crysis is your processor. Crysis is extremely dependent on your processor for smooth gameplay. Also if your running the game at some ridiculous resolution with a 1.8GHz core duo, you might get 9-2 fps. If your experiencing low frame rates then drop your resolution. With my rig, I play crysis at 1280x800 and average about 22-25fps on mostly medium settings with a few high settings.
-
The actual game plays smoother and better, especially with the latest patches installed.
-
After seeing ThunderCat69's post, makes me wonder if i'm playing with subpar framerate.
Here's my setup..
T7500, 2GB, 8600MGT DDR2 (default), Vista64 Ultimate sp1
I tried playing 1280x800 and 1024x640 and still i get an average framerate of lower 20s. Only at times when I look into the ground I get higher fps.
My Crysis is running with -dx9 switch and 32bit, as I see no benefit in running in 64bits after I ran some benchmark.bat in crysis.
All of my drivers are updated, wonder how I can improve the framerate...
overclock 8600m GT? -
What kinda framerates are you seeing? You can try OCing your GPU also try undervolting your CPU cuz sometimes when the CPU gets too hot, it actually downclocks itself so it doesn't fry itself. I noticed a significant increase after undervolting. Rightmark CPU clock utility works great. Theres a post on NBR about it.
-
His CPU might be the bottle neck, but he should still be able to play that game on low settings with yahoo, a few windows opened and McAfee running at the same time. I do that, and still get 20-70fps with my system on low settings 1024/768, and medium settings is not too far off my low settings.
Using Crysis Demo -
I didn't say anything about having other programs running in the background would hurt performance. 20-70fps is a huge variance, do u mean that you get 70fps lookin at the ground then 20 during some action?
-
Yes.
Average FPS is 46. -
Run the game with some real resolution then see what you get. Try 1280x800 at least.
-
I too was running into some problems with Crysis and I'm sure my CPU isn't the issue. On Medium settings it during "action scenes, especially when the ground is frozen and you're "leading" Prophet (dumb bastid just stands still and dies half the time instead of warming up next to a fire) out of the sphere...........the screen would freeze and unlock with me facing a totally different direction. Is there a patch out for the game that I'm missing?
I had Rivatuner running in the background and my FPS went from 30+ to 4-5 FPS several times according to the monitor. This was at 1280 X 854. -
Why would I do that? I don't even play at that resolution playing Quake 4, which I could run at Ultra setting using 1280x800. I use 1024x768 in window mode, so I can also do other things while playing.
-
Are you playin with a genuine version or a bootleg?
I couldn't play a game unless it was in full screen, just personal preference i guess. -
Thanks for suggesting undervolting, I've tried to use it, however rmclock's 64bit driver seems somewhat outdated.. i'll go home and look into it further after i get home
i don't really want to disable driver signature etc
-
i'm now running crysis on low with not FPS problems. Sure the game does not look that great but atleast its not lagging like it once was.
-
Not really.
I play everything full screen on my Desktop (1600x1200), but if I’m on my Laptop computer it’s because I’m actually doing other stuff, with gaming being secondary. I hate to play full screen with my laptop, because there’s always someone messaging me in yahoo. If I’m using my desktop, then I’ll have my laptop next to it so I can do other stuff with it and no need to be in window mode on the desktop.
With that being said….He should still have no problems playing Crysis (low or medium settings) with a 1.8 Dual Core CPU, combined with an 8600GT.
err....9500GS, not 8600GT -
Store bought copy of the game.
-
Im running crysis with every setting on high minus particle effect and shadows which are at medium at 30+ FPS on my rig, granted thats a 1024x768 but it looks damn pretty and is very playable. Im running a T9300 2.5 ghz with 6mb L2, 3 gigs of ram, 32 bit vista premium, geforce 9500m GS 512mb DDR2 with slight OC of 550 core and 491 mem, which isnt really even necessary with crysis because it honestly runs in the constant high 20's with out. So I would definitly say check your drivers, that graphics card can handle crysis at lower resolutions (bellow 720P) in DX10 mode with no problem what so ever. BTW, try OCing that CPU to atlest 2ghz, that should make a big difference!
-
I wouldn't OC your CPU on a notebook. The cooling system on a laptop is no where near as forgivable as a desktop rig. If your havin a problem playing Crysis and you have a descent machine try dropping your resolution till you find that happy medium. Also update your drivers, a really good site for modded drivers
http://laptopvideo2go.com/ . Also use rivatuner to OC your GPU. I would recommend following the guides on NBR if your unsure how to do this, again heat is your biggest worry. Heres a linky for rivatuner http://www.guru3d.com/index.php?page=rivatuner . Good luck.
